IF... you want to race into the city to see a play, go for a jog along the lake, have a quick coffee with a friend or enjoy a fine restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, it's all here in the lovely lakeside town of EVANSTON, IL. You can enjoy it all while living in my studio apartment w/private kitchen, private bath, private entry, shared laundry area and......., if you need it, garage parking, too! Enjoy my garden on warm summer days; in winter, you will love the heated floor! The studio offers a private kitchen with all amenities: cook top; toaster oven; refrigerator/freezer; drinks refrig; micro-wave; elec. kettle; Nespresso machine; chinaware for 4; cutlery, cooking utensils; and the eating area has a table and chairs. The private bath has a soaking tub and shower and linen closet; the studio includes a full size bed; sofa bed; study desk; seating area and plenty of storage and closet space. Wifi is included along with heating, electric. The special feature for winter is: In-Floor Heating, when you put your foot on the floor it's WARM! There is a private entry, no one uses it but my guests. The entry opens onto a hallway leading to the private kitchen, bath and studio area. Off of the entry hall is door to the shared Laundry Room - with washer and dryer, iron and ironing board. The hall door has a lock to provide you full privacy. If you need help or information about services in the area just call or text me any time. I'll be available to give you whatever information you need. Everything is nearby, the local business district is only minutes away offering restaurants, 3 grocery stores, a bakery, City bike rentals for quick rides to the city center which is 9 mins. away; 2 Starbucks coffee shops, and various curiosity shops for anything you might need. There is even a performance venue: S.P.A.C.E., that offers local and national touring acts spanning rock, blues, jazz, folk, singer-songwriters, country and R&B. which is within the Union Pizzeria, an up scale restaurant. And, you can walk there! The neighborhood is residential, quiet and the type of neighborhood where residents stay in touch via an ' email list serve account ' offering information about what is going on in the neighborhood and what they may want information on or want to sell or buy. You see residents walking their babies and dogs and children playing, but within minutes you can be anywhere because of its location in the center of Evanston, but it's ' off the beaten path'. The neighborhood was established at the end of 1800 and the homes are small farm and cottage type homes that have been maintained through the years, it recently has gone through a period of revival because of its location and the charming homes and quiet life style it offers. It is has been called ' Greenleaf Village ' by some because of the diversity of artists, actors, writers and entrepreneurs who have chosen to live here. Diversity is what Evanston, Illinois is all about and this neighborhood is just that. Evanston is known as the City of Churches, all denominations are represented; a vast variety of ethnic groups live here: 1 out of 4 residents come from abroad. Northwestern University is a great draw to the area and fosters this diversity. There are a number of concert halls and performance venues in the city including: movie theaters, children's theater, open air concerts at the lake, art fairs, business district street fairs. You will a find a wide selection of sports activities, which includes an ice skating center, The Robert Crown Center, adjacent to our neighborhood, presently developing a new expansion to provide multiple services: a library, tennis courts, playing fields and much, more....... Public Transportation is only 10-15 minutes away: the Elevated Train ( known as the ( ' L' ) joins with the CTA - the Chicago subway system plus the Chicago Metra are both a short walk or bike ride away. The trains run during the day and night. There are schedules available on line or there is an APP for your mobile phone. The Metra trains take you as far north as Kenosha, Wis. or south to the City Center of Chicago. The 'L' trains take you into Chicago via all the neighborhoods along the lake shore and south to Midway International Airport and west to O' Hare International Airport. There is always Uber or local taxis to pick you up within minutes. The City of Evanston has gone to great lengths to provide bike paths and Divvy Bike Stations where you can rent bikes at several locations throughout the 4 Main Evanston Business Districts: you pick a bike up at one station and drop it off at another, the rental fee starts at: $1.50/30mins. the charge is based on the time you use the bike. There is a Student Membership you can purchase for the year. All the major streets have bike lanes so you don't struggle with local traffic! You will find easy parking in front of the studio; garage parking is available in the winter months on the property, a small daily fee is requested. There is a Business District 2 blocks from the studio that provides: a major grocery store, AT&T showroom; Starbucks Coffee Shop; Curt's Cafe, local coffee house; car wash; local restaurants; a yoga and massage studio; playgrounds and artist studios. These are all within 2 short blocks from the studio apartment.
