There are also numerous Cathar castles in the area. For guests willing to travel a little further afield, day trips to destinations such as Toulouse, which is 95km from the holiday home, offer the opportunity to further explore the region's delicious cuisine and interesting sights. Toulouse itself is a very worthy capital of the Midi-Pyrenées region due to its selection of museums, theatres and leisure activities. Alternatively, head south to Quillan (39km) which is one of the best points of departure for forays into the forest of the Pyreneés foothills. You may also wish to travel east and discover one of the prettiest villages in France, Lagrasse (40km away), or wander around the delightful historic town of Narbonne (75km away) or spend a day or two on the golden sandy beaches of the Mediterranean (90km).
