The Sanctuary at the Havens Motueka River Valley
Luxury modern studio with private spa pool and luxury furnishings, set peacefully above the banks of the Motueka River. Situated in our 55 acre rare breed farm, with trout fishing and a swimming hole at the foot of the drive and bush walks up to the top of the hill, the Sanctuary is a place to relax, unwind and switch off to the sound of the river, native birds and very little else. Guests report "this leg of our honeymoon has been the most relaxing, memorable and tasty of the trip so far". The space The Sanctuary is a modern studio with private spa pool on the deck overlooking the valley and the river, an enclosed garden suitable for a small dog, and luxury furniture and fittings - "everything you could ask for" according to guests. We feature local artwork and our own photographs around the space, with everything designed for a couple to have a relaxing break away from it all. Situated up a long private drive through paddocks of sheep, past the olive grove and fruit orchard, the Sanctuary commands a view northwards up the valley. Designed for two, we can cater for infants in a cot on request (see Add-ons to book)), and we have a foldout Futon bed for a third person. Everything here is provided for your stay - luxury linen and towels, bath robes for the spa, eco-friendly toiletries etc., Food Breakfast is provided - We can also provide BBQ Meals for you to cook yourselves, along with desserts and drinks - especially helpful if you are cycling the Great Taste Trail. These can be added when you book - we do require some days notice to buy in fresh produce for the meals. The spa pool is completely private for guests (we have our own by the house). The farm is open for guests to walk through, with a short bush walk up the hill and longer walks along the river or through the forestry tracks. We make our own olive oil, jams, and chutneys which we are happy to share with guests, (and you can buy some to take away). Seasonal fruit is available for you to pick from the orchard. We also make a range of home made wines - these are not for sale, but you are welcome to try some. We have two giant dogs, "Toffee" a Leonberger and "Archie" a Bernese Mountain Dog, as well as a small flock of rare breed Arapawa, Valais Black-nose and Karakul sheep, free range chickens, guinea fowl and pekin ducks as well as other animals on the land. We have just introduced Llamas and hope to be able to offer guests a Llama experience once these beautiful animals settle in fully. We encourage guests to wander over the farm and meet the animals - those tame enough to say hello! There might be some restrictions during lambing or at other times of the year but we keep these to a minimum wherever possible. Other things to note Please feel free to contact us directly by phone or email if you have any questions - and to let us know when you will be arriving so we can meet you at the gates!
