Arrive at this delightful stone-built villa on the edge of the Chianti town of Radda and you will quickly shake off any weariness from your journey. Poggio della Villa welcomes you with its eye-catching rotunda-style façade, a dramatic setting within its own lawns and gardens, and a private pool just begging to be jumped into. Families and friends will love this character-packed detached property, a wonderful choice of venue to celebrate a special occasion. Inside the villa, you are greeted with traditional Tuscan villa features such as the terracotta tiles dressing the floors and ceilings. You are also sure to love the decor with its uplifting cream colour scheme and shutters made of dark wood. Generously sized and positioned windows and part-glass doors give Poggio della Villa a light and airy feel. The master bedroom is a stunner, with its big bed beneath a fan vaulted ceiling and views across the lawns. Take a stroll outside, along the furnished terracotta terrace that runs around two sides of the property: you'll first discover a rattan sofa and chairs but walk a little further and you will reach a delightful al fresco dining spot with a table set beneath an iron pergola. A few steps away, in the garden awaits a further dining table with benches, shaded by the trees. There are more chairs (and a hammock) to relax in on the lawn and maximise your time in this special garden, as well as the private pool, with its sun loungers and refreshing waters. Our Thoughts We think Poggio della Villa really looks the part, strikingly designed and enjoying a spectacular setting within its own gardens. Refreshing decor runs throughout the property, reaching its peak in the main bedroom: opulently furnished, the bed imposingly placed in the centre of the room, with windows opening out to the Chianti countryside. As for the garden, we're sure you'll find it perfect for idling away the day, perhaps playing table tennis, or dining in the leafy shade of the mature trees. Notes The owners live next door but have their own garden and entrance. The owners do not use the pool. The road to the nearby town of Radda has no pavement so care must be taken as this is a main road. There is no handrail on the steps to the first floor. The owner has six bikes and helmets which can be rented for free. There is a table-tennis table stored in the bike shed which is available for use. There is a basement equipped with a washing machine, accessed via a door in the lounge. Pool The pool is 50m from the villa and not visible from the property, with a hedge and other shrubs also offering extra privacy. The water is entered by iron steps and there is a stone sundeck set with sun loungers and parasols. Pool size: 10m x 5m, 1.1m-1.6m deep. Open May to September, weather permitting.
