The Wabe
The Wabe Summary: Our
Summary: Our property lies in the beautiful Kanimbla Valley with views of the Blue Mountains escarpment. It is at the end of a quiet country lane where the only thing you will hear are birds singing and cattle mooing. We are often visited by kangaroos, echidnas and we have a resident wombat. If you are looking for outdoor activities, we are a great base for visiting Jenolan Caves, eclectic Blackheath and the many bushwalks of the Upper Blue Mountains. This property is part of Regional NSW. The Space: Located on a flat piece of land looking down the hill towards the creek with uninterrupted views of the rolling hills with native trees and cattle. The tiny house offers guests a comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchenette complete with air-conditioning and heating. There is a queen sized bed up in the loft and a sofa bed on the ground floor, which can be converted to a double bed size. The loft can sleep two adults. The kitchenette has everything you need to cook your light meals. A portable cooker, cookware, cooking utensils, cutlery, dishes & silverware, microwave and even a mini fridge. The portable cooker can be kept in the cupboard when not in use to maximise space. Our bathroom facilities follow ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin and shower (gas heated for hot showers). In Australia's severe climatic challenge of bush fires and drought, we help to save the environment by conserving water using an eco-friendly toilet. Wastes are broken down in the compost toilet via an aerobic decomposition process. It is a waterless system (no need to flush!), whereas a standard dual flush toilet would use up to 350L of water per week.. An aeration fan helps in the decomposition process and minimises odours. If you're using your own soap, shampoo, tooth paste, we ask that you bring biodegradable ones so that the grey water runoff does not harm the environment. Thank you! Guest Access: Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surroundings. The guests are welcome to access our two main paddocks, the chook yard – where you can feed vegetable scraps to the chickens. We have put pots of parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme and basil on the deck of the Tiny House for guests to have fresh herbs. The Neighborhood: We live in a wonderfully friendly country community. We are close to Jenolan Caves, the villages of Mount Victoria, and Blackheath. There are many bushwalks in the area and we would be happy to recommend one that is suitable. Fifteen minutes away from the property, there is fine dining at the Ambermere Rose Inn, a wonderful wood fired pizza at Alchemy, and a great pub food at the Hampton Halfway Hotel. In summer, we can direct you to a wonderful swimming hole that only the locals know about. Getting Around: Getting around by car: We are 2 hrs from the heart of Sydney The nearest towns are Lithgow and Blackheath, which are 25 minutes away Getting around by public transport: The nearest railway station is Mount Victoria. Arrangements can be made for guests to be collected from the station Other Things to Note: - We have two dogs on the property, cross Labradors called MIllie and Toby. We also have three chickens. - Mostly good mobile reception for both Optus and Telstra. Data can get congested on Sunday afternoons when the tourists are stuck in traffic The Weather We have both an online weather station and a weather cam so you can get an idea of the weather before you arrive.
