PRIVATE STRUCTURE: Villa Raffaelli,(structure protected by the institution of the fine arts) dating back to 1582 and built over a fortified medieval structure, was the country house of a noble family of Lucca, the Raffaellis, who were scholars, bishops and judges. Pietro Raffaelli was the tutor of the Duke of Modena and Raffaello Raffaelli was a writer and historian. Over the years and centuries, the house has seen owners change and has hosted illustrious personages. Staying in this historic home revives an era of time gone by, the furnishings, the frescoed vaulted ceilings and the period floors help the guests of Villa Raffaelli to completely disconnect from the stress of everyday life and to immerse themselves in another era. From the Italian garden located in the front of the villa you can admire the beautiful panoramic view over the surrounding hills, the valley of the Serchio, the mountains of the Garfagnana and a breathtaking view of the Apuan Alps. Within easy reach of Villa Raffaelli are Lucca (35 km), a characteristic Tuscan town with many historic villas, Versilia for lovers of the sea, famous Tuscan tourist towns such as Pisa (40 km) and Florence (100 km), the marble quarries of Carrara and the Cinque Terre, a Unesco World Heritage site. A stone staircase leads to the upper floor with three double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, two single bedrooms (one with queensize bed) with ensuite bathrooms and four bathrooms, part of the bedrooms are connected by a passage, a music room, a games room and a small secret garden, paved in stone and shaded by old laurel trees. In the adjacent conservatory next to the main structure, there is a romantic dining room known as “of the arches”, a fitness area and a small reading room. Fans in the bedrooms Park: The well-equipped outdoors covers an area of approximately 1 hectare, characterized mainly by the Italian garden with tall old trees and flowers and lemon trees typical of the Lucca area; there is a covered and heated Jacuzzi tub which can also be used in the colder months. The garden has been rendered more comfortable and welcoming thanks to various period reading corners with tables and benches carved from sandstone blocks and also a pretty sun terrace with tables, chairs and sunbeds where you can relax. Swimming Pool: The pool lies in a panoramic position in the garden next to the villa which is about 40 m away. With an rectangular shape, it measures 4 x 7 m with a constant depth of 1.35 m, has chlorine purification, lights inside and it is fenced. Access to the water is by an iron ladder. Close by is a gazebo furnished with garden table and chairs, for outdoor snacks. The pool is provided with deckchairs and is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.
