Casa da Água Quente 2, located in the parish of Furnas, island of S. Miguel, is a house with a traditional façade, totally rebuilt according to a current architectural plan, where special attention was paid to social areas, in open space and to all the rules of comfort and well-being. It has two double rooms, a single room and a baby cot (has capacity for 5 guests). The social area is in open space with kitchen, dining room and living room with Salamandra. It has 2 bathrooms equipped with shower and bath and hairdryers, a balcony on the first floor. On the ground floor there is a porch, equipped with outdoor furniture where you can dine. It also has a barbecue and garden area. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and sandwich maker. Bed linen, bath and beach towels are provided. Guests have free access to Wi-Fi, telephone and flat screen TV with cable channels. The House is licensed by the Municipality of Povoação and registered as Local Accommodation (AL), with the number RRAL 1747 assigned by the Regional Directorate of Tourism of the Azores. It is located a few meters from Poça da Dona Beija, a kind of natural SPA with hot thermal waters, which delight all who visit it. Within walking distance (about 500 m), there is the Terra Mostra Botanical Garden and Lagoa das Furnas (1.5 km) and close to trails, namely the Sanguinhal trail, which passes in front of the house. In the parish of Furnas there are several points of interest, in addition to those already mentioned, the Jardim Botânico Terra Nostra with more than two centuries of existence and with an area of 12.5 hectares, this garden is the ex-libris of Vale das Furnas. It has a unique plant and landscape heritage, the result of several interventions and improvements initiated at the end of the century. XVIII and continued until today. Noteworthy are the pool of iron and thermal water, being the main attraction of Hotel Terra Nostra. Lagoa das Furnas, on whose bank the famous Cozido das Caldeiras is made, is classified as a body of water protected by the Lagoa das Furnas Hydrographic Basin Management Plan. It is the largest property in Lagoa dos Funas, registered in the “Portuguese Association of Gardens and Historical Sites”, occupying the south bank of the water plane and penetrating into the interior of the mountain, up to the limit of the Salto do Rosal stream. it is densely forested with extensive areas reserved for production forest and protection forest and another part in the low areas next to the bank where there is a beautiful landscaped forest, designed and planted in the middle of the century. XIX. Of the diversity of species of the forest-garden stand out the Oak, Quercus róbur, the European Beech, Fagus sylvatica, the Sequoias, Sequoias sempervirens, and the White Cedar, Chamaecyparis lawsoniana. From the viewpoints of Pico do Ferro, Pedras do Galego, Lombo dos Milhos and the viewpoint of Lagoa das Furnas you can enjoy views of the iconic landscapes of the island of São Miguel. The “Cozido das Caldeiras” is the most emblematic dish on the island of São Miguel and a tourist product of great value. Meats, potatoes, vegetables and raw sausages are deposited in a pan wrapped in linen bags, steamed from the interior of the holes in the soil and which gives rise to a rich and abundant broth. Or else, wrapped in cabbage leaves, which in turn are wrapped in a thick cloth deposited in the pits next to the fumaroles. Cooking takes approximately 5 to 6 hours depending on the temperature emanating from the interior of the pit. The “Bacalhau à moda das Furnas” is also a typical dish made in this natural cuisine. Come and discover these delicious gastronomic dishes that Furnas has to offer. Originating in Furnas, the lervedos cakes are also an essential reference in local cuisine. In the furnas there are several restaurants with varied menus of fish, meat and seafood on their menus. In some cases, they also have vegetarian options. Furnas is an excellent base to visit, in addition to the aspects already mentioned on the site, the entire eastern part of S. Miguel.
