Novi Vinodolski, which from an old Frankish fort called Novigrad relatively early developed as a tourist destination, at the end of the 19th century, right after Opatija and is now the center of today's Riviera of Novi Vinodolski. Here you can enjoy sun and sea at the most famous and best decorated beach Lišanj, located in the same named bay. Of cultural monuments in Novi Vinodolski you can visit the walls of the Roman fort Lopsica, remains Paulist friars' monastery, the Frankopan castle with a tower, where in 1288.g. the Vinodoli Code was written, the oldest medieval legal document written in Glagolitic, the oldest known Slavic alphabet created in the 9th century by Saint Cyril, a Byzantine monk. There are also the cathedral, Church of St. Trinity and St. Marina on the same island, house of the brothers Mazuranic, reading club and library from 1845, the National Museum, and City Gallery Turnac. Well-known picnic areas in the area are the medieval towns of Vinodol: Drivenik, Grižane, Bribir, Ledenice and especially Tribalj with a freshwater lake, as well as the forest areas of Breza and Krmpot, and the Bribir forest picnic areas of Lukovo and Maševo.
