You're very near our center of town, but creekside, surrounded by woods in a quiet contemplative environment. A short walk to colleges, restaurants, shopping and public transportation. Stay in a 116-yo country cozy home with newly remodeled guest bath, open kitchen, and friendly supportive Innkeeper. Cozy private room in 100+ yr. old house. Stream, garden and greenhouse in the back yard, a stone's throw from Amherst town center, and to the University of MA. (Within walking distance from the Peter Pan Busline.) Beautiful guest bathroom, cable, internet, kitchen privileges, and solar hot water which is always hot! Please be aware, however, that the guest bathroom is on the first floor, but bedrooms are on the second floor. For convenience, at night guests are encouraged to use my personal bathroom, upstairs, rather than having to negotiate the stairs. Also note that the guest bathroom is shared among the guests. Expect friendliness, and privacy, long walks through woods, town, or campuses. Beautiful neighborhood, any season of the year. Plenty of interesting restaurants including Japanese, Vietnamese, East African, Indian, American, high and low end. Plenty of culture in this 5 College area. Excellent transportation during the academic seasons. During this pandemic I'm happy to accept your reservation. Here are some of the precautions I've been taking and have asked guests to take: Please wear masks in "common areas" in my home like the kitchen and hallways. We will work around each other when using the kitchen, trying to maintain distance. You can eat at picnic tables outside, or in my "outdoor cafe" which is right off the kitchen. You can also eat inside, but we'll need to distance. You have your own bathroom which is downstairs - and you'll need to negotiate the "treacherous stairs" (it's an old house with steep stairs) rather than use the more convenient upstairs bathroom. So sorry! If you can deal with those specifics you are welcome! I will wait for you to respond to this message before accepting your reservation. Honestly, I LOVE having guests, and this time is so disconcerting because I can't be the warm, super-friendly host I would like to be. We will bear with it, though, and I know you'll have a great visit. My place is truly Heaven on Earth - you'll see! Warmly, Debbi An old and very desirable neighborhood just a 5 minute walk from Amherst's pedestrian friendly town center. A quiet stream and tall trees that display Fall Foliage surround the home bordered by friendly neighbors and seasonal fruit tees. Most amenities, restaurants and shopping are easy walking distance. The UMASS and Amherst College campuses are 10 minutes on foot. We enjoy an excellent local bus system during the academic year, and adequate service all summer long. The 5 colleges -- UMass, Amherst, Smith, Hampshire and Mt. Holyoke -- support FREE inter-campus buses, including for non-students. Peter Pan Bus Lines run locally, and as far as Boston and New York. The Amtrak train stops in Northampton, the next town over. Uber and Lyft both operate locally. You can rents bikes here at Heaven On Earth. Usually I only have one set of guests at a time, but occasionally have two. In this case you will be sharing a bathroom, either with me, or with the other guests. Guests are always respectful of others' privacy, and the bathrooms are always tidy.
