'Casa Olympe', Joch, France

Casa Olympe is a sympathetically modernised, characterful and well equipped comfortable village house in the pretty historic village of Joch, in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The village has an excellent restaurant/cafe with an attractive terrace with panoramic views. Joch is a very attractive 'Village Fleurie' with narrow winding streets and a chateau. The house has a spacious, bright living/dining room, with wood burning stove, and a large fully fitted kitchen. Both have stunning views over the Tet valley. There are 3 light, airy bedrooms: a ground floor double bedroom with adjoining bathroom, a large bedroom with 3 single beds, and en-suite bathroom, and the main bedroom which has an en-suite shower room. Outside, the attractive south facing sheltered patio is a sun trap all year and the large roof terrace has breathtaking views. Situated at the foot of Mt Canigou, there are lovely walks from the house and a lakeside swimming beach in Vinca is 5 minutes away. The nearby Pyrenees offer excellent walking and climbing and there are Mediterranean beaches and picturesque towns within 45 minutes drive. Throughout the area there are Romanesque monasteries, vineyards and colourful local markets. Suitable all year round for couples or families. Midweek bookings spring/autumn.
