In nearby Valtura you can see the remains of the oldest settlement on the peninsula, the former Illyrian capital Nesactium. Today it is a kind of archeological park with preserved architectural remains of ancient and late antiquity. Visit nearby Pula where you can see many sights from its long history. The most impressive buildings in the city date back to Roman times. In addition to the Roman amphitheater better known as the Pula Arena and the well-preserved Temple of Augustus at the Forum, there are the Dirke mosaic and the triumphal arch of Sergius. If you drive west you will come across the town of Vodnjan. A polenta festival is held here in July during which you can taste this dish with a variety of sauces. Visit the Basilica of St. Blaise with the tallest church tower in Istria and an enviable collection of mummies. We recommend a day trip to the Brijuni National Park.
