Cathelyd Colliery Stables is a renovated stable block that has 2 self contained cottages. The building housed the pit ponies from the local colliery at the turn of the century. The property is situated in a wooded valley adjacent to the the Cwm Clydach bird reserve. Each cottage has an open plan living, dining and kitchen area that has been renovated to a high standard. There is stairs to the first floor with bedroom 1 that has a king size bed and bedroom 2 that has 2 single beds 2'6". The bathroom has a shower (no bath). Both cottages are bright and airy. Bed linen and towels provided. Wi-Fi available. Welcome pack is provided on arrival including tea, coffee, and sugar. Basic items such as washing up liquid, toilet rolls, hand wash etc are provided and a hair dryer Next door is the local family run pub The New Inn that serves excellent food. It is an ideal location for bird watchers, walkers, mountain bikers and nature lovers. Dogs are welcome. We are situated 3 miles from J45 of the M4 with easy access to Swansea, the Gower and the Brecon Beacons The New Inn pub next door serves lunch and evening meals Tues to Sat. Sunday lunch is served to 3pm. There is an outside unit that has laundry facilities, washing m/c, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board, freezer, drying room, and a lock up for bikes and other equipment. There are 4 electric hook ups available for camper vans or tents for larger parties. Please enquire to make arrangements. Cwm Clydach RSPB Reserve is next to the cottages. Public paths and trails are open from dawn to dusk. There are two man-made reservoirs near the village of Felindre, in the Lliw valley, called the Lower Lliw Reservoir and the Upper Lliw Reservoir. The reservoirs are managed by Welsh Water. The surrounding countryside is open to the public for recreational purposes.
