Art Deco Charm - modern day touch
Warwick Lodge - Studio apartment with modern separate kitchen and bathroom, upstairs from the iconic Lawson Grove cafe. Original Art Deco features with modern day amenities. Public transport 1 minute walk away. 3 km from the city. This apartment is situated on the top floor of the building. We retained as much of the deco features as possible. The original 1920's bath and the fireplace were kept, as we felt it important to maintain the integrity of the Art Deco lifestyle. Now they represent the romance of a bygone era. The outlook from the stain glass windows is reminiscent of the Alfred Hitchcock 1954 thriller movie 'Rear Window' staring James Stewart and Grace Kelly. WIFI Internet access is provided in the apartment via portable broadband modem. The password will be provided to guests before they check in. It is a prepaid system for you to pay for as you need it. It these modern technological times it is more cost effective to have your own data available. The Lawson Grove cafe on the ground floor of the building has unlimited free WIFI for guests from breakfast to 6ish every day. You can almost smell the coffee from the apartment and the breakfast is a must for all visitors. There is a communal coin operated laundry at the back of the building. The Tennis Centre and MCG are within walking distance. The Royal Botanic Gardens are a 5 minute walk away. The TAN running track surrounds the gardens and neighborhood. Melbourne has a lot to offer so please do a search on 'what's on in Melbourne' or 'how to get around Melbourne' for loads of information. The hot water system in Warwick Lodge works by gravity feed, so whilst it is very hot, controlling the temperature can sometimes be a small challenge. The situation is in hand with the body corporate to upgrade the plumbing throughout the building. I hope this does not deter you from continuing with your booking. Lawson Grove is a tiny cul de sac hidden behind Alexandra Avenue. Named after Howard Lawson, the architect known for his Deco design and importantly his use of recycled materials in his buildings. These include the Beverley Hills in Darling Road, Warwick Lodge, The Manor, Devonshire House to name a few in the Lawson Grove vicinity.
