Mulino di Camporata

Mulino di Camporata is a traditional stone villa with a private pool, enveloped in neat gardens, within walking distance of Gaiole, one of the main towns in Chianti. As though these were not reasons enough to recommend the property, it comes with a bonus; the villa has been separated into two self-contained apartments, on the ground and first floors. It’s an ideal flexible holiday space for a pair of couples or a small family who want to travel together but would like a little privacy, too. There is a dining terrace on both floors and laundry facilities are located in a nearby outhouse. Each apartment has a comfortable open-plan living area (with sofa-bed and an extra bathroom), for cooking dining and relaxing, and relaxing bedroom (with beds dressed in pretty hand-made quilts). When the whole party wishes to be come together, the terrace on the first floor, overlooking the gardens, is just the place for a long lunch or dinner (perhaps rustled up on the barbecue in the garden). Any children in your group will love to splash about in the pool; you can lay back on a sun lounger or take a seat in the shade of the pergola while keeping an eye on their antics. When you want to spread your wings, the charming towns of Greve and Radda, as well as Gaiole, are on your doorstep and some serious sightseeing in Florence is just an hour’s drive away. Our Thoughts The big plus about this property is the way it provides two villas in one. We think young families in particular will love this versatile space, which makes it possible to holiday together yet not be in each other’s pockets (the communal laundry room could prove pretty useful, too). Then there’s the fact that it’s just a few minutes from the shops and restaurants in one of the prime Chianti market towns, Gaiole. Plus, it ticks all the boxes when it comes to conjuring up a truly Tuscan atmosphere, with those beamed-and-tiled ceilings and stone floors. Notes Two bedrooms. Four bathrooms, two en-suite. The owners live in the main house next door. They speak English and Italian and are able to provide information about the area and any other help you require. There is a neighbouring rental villa, however it does not share the garden or pool. Pool The pool is in the garden, a few steps from the villa, framed by mature hedges and looking out over a large lawn. It is slightly raised and the poolside is reached via a couple of stone steps, while the water is entered using ladder steps. The pool is surrounded with wooden decking and lawn, furnished with sun loungers and parasols, plus there is a pergola furnished with wicker chairs and a coffee table. Pool Size: 10m x 5m, 1.6m deep. Open from April through September, weather permitting.
