Treehus: Ocean-view cottage with beach & tennis.
Enjoy south-facing rustic charm tucked in the woods with a private beach on Brentwood Bay. Located in close proximity to Victoria International Airport, Swartz Bay Ferries, Mill Bay Ferry, and Butchart Gardens, on a 3 acre, wooded lot with wide ocean-frontage, the guest house has all the comforts of home and the tranquility and peace BC's west coast is famous for. The Tree Hus is a self-contained, 1 bedroom guest house with one bathroom, kitchenette, living and dining area, desk, and large sun deck with ocean views. The guest house is located above a garage (not in use when guests are staying), and is accessible only via stairs. This accommodation is not suitable for guests with wheelchairs or difficulty with stairs - sorry, access via single flight of stairs. The bedroom has a very comfortable Queen bed with memory foam mattress topper, dresser, and closet. The kitchenette has a full range, small fridge, microwave, and double sink and is tiny but well-formed for making breakfast or a simple meal after a long day hiking, kayaking, or sight seeing on the Island. The living room is equipped with a flat screen TV, Bowers & Wilkins speaker, Wifi, desk, and a sofa bed which sleeps two. Children are welcome and we can set up a travel cot for babies under 2 if needed, as well as high chair. There is a little tree house, swing, and slide for children to play on. Enjoy the sunrise or sunset over beautiful Brentwood Bay from the sun deck - in the summer you can catch the Butchart Gardens fireworks from the deck! Breakfast provisions are provided - whole wheat bread, homemade granola, fresh eggs, butter, jam, tea, coffee, and milk (dairy or non dairy) - for you to make your own breakfast. We live in the large white house. You have private access to the Treehus, its immediate outdoor area, parking area, and if you book it, the Sea Shed. You have shared access (with us) to the beach. You have access to outside areas from the drive to the front of the property. You have shared access (with our children) to the play areas. The grass lawn at the rear of the white house, and the vegetable garden are private. The front flower garden is the domain of two spoilt chickens. Please don't let the chickens out. We live on the property in the main house and can be available for any questions, but otherwise leave you to yourselves! Our three young children living in the main house and so normal child-related noise when they're playing outdoors is to be expected! This is our family home. Access to the guest house is straightforward, details provided on booking. Brentwood Bay offers the best of the South Island - a short 20 minute drive to Victoria, 10 minutes to Victoria airport, or 15 minutes to the ferries, whether Swartz Bay to access the Southern Gulf Islands (Pender, Salt Spring...), Vancouver, or the Mill Bay Ferry to start your journey up the Island. There's endless hiking trails with Dean Park on our doorstep and Tod Park a short drive away, as well as world class cycling on the Interuban Trail, Lochside Trail, or around the Saanich Peninsula. The Peninsula is known for local wines - check out Sea Cider, Church and State, or Deep Cove Winery. All your basic shopping can be found in Brentwood Bay, five minutes away by car. Great lunches can be had at nearby cafes we are happy to recommend. The Treehus is very comfortable for two adults, and comfortably accommodates two adults and up to two infants or children. There is a Queen bed and a small sofa bed, plus a Pack + Play travel cot/playpen for infants. It is a tight maximum occupancy for four adults. While it's possible to get to and from the Treehus by bike or public transit, you'll have a lot more flexibility if you have a car. There is public transit but it is limited in routes and frequency. Many great cycling routes from outside your door. Kim's an avid runner and happy to share favourite running routes nearby and further afield.
