Stone house - medieval village South of France

Restored in 2018 and refurbished exposed stone house dating from 1840 in the charming medieval village of Castillon du Gard. The house,which is made of the local stone from Vers Pont du Gard and has 95m2 living area. It is in a quiet area of the village and yet the restaurants, newsagent, bakery, post office and caterer are all within comfortable walking distance. There is also a small local market once a week. The pretty village is well lit at night and perfect for a gentle stroll along the cobbled lanes and taking in the views from the petanque area that overlooks the World Heritage roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. Bed linen and bath towels provided and included in the rates (change is offered for reservations longer than 2 weeks). On entering the front door, the kitchen is to the right and the sitting room with fireplace (housing a large screen TV) is to the left. The kitchen has a door onto the garden. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher, American style fridge/freezer, electric halogen hob and electric oven with separate microwave. The table seats 6 people. In the sitting room is a comfortable settee/sofa bed that could sleep a further 2 people. The TV is able to connect to the owner's Canal Plus subscription allowing a wide variety of channels. If you have a subscription outside of France, you would be able to enter your details and password and access your subscriptions (Netflix, Deezer, etc.) There are also a selection of games: Monopoly, Scrabble and playing cards. Also on the ground floor and behind the sitting room is a toilet. On the upper floor are two bedrooms and two shower rooms. The shower room just outside bedroom 1 has a shower, washbasin and a toilet. Bedroom 2 has a shower and washbasin which is en suite. All beds and bed linen and towels are new as of May 2018. One of the bedrooms has a radio/MP3 player. Every room in the house has been renovated and equipped at the beginning of 2018 thus providing clean and sparkling fixtures and fittings just waiting for your arrival. Outside, is the shingled garden with two decked areas; ideal to enjoy your aperitif or dine under a shady parasol. Why not relax on a sun lounger and read or sunbathe to the sound of the Mediterranean cicadas? Alongside the house is a garage area housing the central heating boiler, washing machine, 2 bicycles, etc. It is not possible to park in the garage, however, there is always room just alongside the wall of the house. Castillon is a much sought after village with many of the houses dating from the 18th century and also made of the local Vers Pont du Gard golden stone. The buildings come alive in the sunset as the limestone turns a beautiful colour. It is a perfect to leave the property and wander on foot to take in the history of the village and the old ramparts, the pretty cobbled streets, the roman chapel and the church tower. There is a superb view of the Pont du Gard, the roman aqueduct that is now listed as a World Heritage Centre. You can see this from the pathway behind the church where they play petanque. In the nearby village of Remoulins (3kms) you can find a wide selection of shops, garages and banks, and also a large supermarket. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The house rents a minimum of 7 nights and from saturday to saturday. A change of bed linen is offered for reservations of 2 weeks. A rental contract will be sent to you to complete and sign. A damage deposit of 350 euros is payable in cash. Animals are not accepted at the house. The house is unsuitable for wheelchair users or the mobility impaired. The adult renters accept full responsibility for any children and the owners have no liability for any accident or injury of any renter.
