'Harbour View' American River

American River offers visitors some of the most delightful scenery on Kangaroo Island – “KI” as locals call it. Sitting on the western shore of a large bay, spectacular sunrises are common and moonrises turn the bay into a sea of glittering silver. Situated in an elevated position overlooking the bay, “Harbour View” provides a 180° panorama from the mainland to the boat harbour where more than 20 yachts swing lazily on their moorings, reflecting the golden glow of sunset. The home offers a very spacious open living area and a full width balcony to enjoy the spectacular views. There is plenty of off street parking and room for a trailer boat should that be your thing. American River offers visitors a welcome restful break from the hectic pace of modern life. Features include walking the nearby coast, fishing from the wharf or local charter boats, kayaking on the lagoon, dining at the harbour-side café, sampling the fresh oysters from the local oyster farm, enjoying the fine foods of local restaurants or spotting some of KI’s many bird species, especially the extremely rare Red-tailed Glossy Black Cockatoo … need we go on?! American River is the ideal base from which to visit KI’s many attractions, including the internationally renowned Seal Bay, Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. ‘Harbour View’ is located in Bayview Rd, American River’s ‘dress circle’, which overlooks the entire Eastern Cove. Stunning, richly coloured sunrises and silver moonrises across the placid bay are a feature of American River and truly breathtaking. KI’s Tammar wallabies are commonly seen around the house and koalas and other wildlife are occasional visitors. A spacious lounge/dining/kitchen area overlooks the magnificent views, with a snug corner offering a comfortable reading retreat. The house has two bedrooms, each with QS beds. A large bathroom incorporating a shower, bath, sink and toilet is backed up by a separate toilet with handbasin. Additional beds may be provided by arrangement with the hosts. There is plenty of off-street parking with a carport and space for a boat. Two restaurants are within a five minute walk and a Thai restaurant with live music is 15 mins drive. (Thurs evening only.) Your hosts Carol and Trevor live 100m away and look forward to being of service during your stay. Where possible, they will greet you on arrival to familiarise you with ‘Harbour View’. They are seasoned travellers and take great pleasure meeting folk from all over Australia ... and the world.
