Le Frêne à La Maure - Stunning luxury, period home
Le Frêne - Stunning spacious home with pool & views set in a tranquil hamlet
Ali & Greg welcome you to their home Le Frêne in the quiet little hamlet of La Maure, Campsegret. Surrounded by tranquil forests and views but close enough to explore all the Dordogne has to offer. Keeping the original features of the perigord, with oak beams and stone walls, the house is incredibly comfortable, stylish and full of art & sculpture collected from around the world. Outside you can enjoy our pool, pergola and undercover barbecue. After successfully running Le Frêne as a B&B and chic gîte, we are opening our entire home this year for booking in July & August only. PLEASE NOTE: BOOKINGS ARE FROM SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE IS ONLY POSSIBLE ON THIS DAY. WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE CHILDREN UNDER 12 YRS, INCLUDING BABIES. We have four bedrooms. One double with en-suite roll-top bath, separate toilet & basin. Another double with a huge bath and double aspect windows. At the other end of the house is a suite with two bedrooms sharing a shower/bathroom, consisting of double room with balcony overlooking the potager and a twin room with a garden view. Perfect for two families as the opposing wings give privacy. Towels and linen are included. The newly renovated kitchen is very well-equipped as we are keen cooks and a must have DeLonghi coffee machine as well as a number of ways to make coffee is available. The pool is open from April to October and loungers and towels can be supplied. Guests are welcome to enjoy our home, including all 3 hectares of grounds, orchard & forest. There are many places to sit, lie, relax and enjoy the views. Le frêne (a large weeping ash next to the pool) has a hammock inside where you can rest in the shade and there are many walks along the stream and forests. Campsegret is a tranquil little hamlet 18 minutes from Bergerac airport. You have all the amenities close by but can immerse yourself in the countryside. The local cafe just 5 minutes away sells fresh bread and pastries daily. There are a number of local bars and restaurants we can recommend but Bergerac with its medieval old town has plenty of gourmet restaurants and two weekly markets selling delicious local produce such as cheeses, foie gras, truffles and confit de canard. The area has much to offer for walkers, cyclists, sightseers and wine tasters, with quaint medieval & Bastide villages, chateaux and gardens to explore. For wine lovers a visit to Monbazillac is a must. Just 20 minutes away, you can enjoy wine tasting, wander around the chateau and take lunch at their excellent restaurant. And the historic towns of Sarlat, Montignac, Les Eyzies and Perigueux are easily accessible. Take a barge (gabbare) down the Dordogne, canoe along the Vezere or visit the famous Lascaux Caves. Bordeaux is also about an hour away making this an ideal location to experience the Aquitaine.
