It was realized a prestigious residential area, which includes elegant buildings designed by leading protagonists of architectural's period, such as Pietro Fenoglio and Giuseppe Momo and characterized by styles as neo-Gothic and, above all, Liberty. This area, enclosed in Corso Einaudi, Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, Corso Montevecchio and Corso Galileo Ferraris, was later made pedestrian by August 9th, 1974. The western entrance of that pedestrian area right outside the entrance of the Politecnico University is dominated by Duca d'Aosta's square, otherwise known as "Piazzetta del Fante", because of the statue dedicated to the "Fante d 'Italy', a bronze work of Angelo Balzardi, erected for the centenary of the Unification of Italy (1961).
