Little Gem (Doux Bijou) with Sea View Rooftop

Doux Bijou is a darling, little gem of an apartment (43m2) – situated in a simple village house on the main street of Haut de Cagnes. Climb the stairs to arrive in the most charming living/sitting/dining room with practically 2 walls of windows offering an enormous amount of light, as well as views of the village, town, distant hills and sea. The decor is pretty country cottage with colourful pictures, comfortable throws and cushions plus plenty of little curiosities that catch your eye. Open plan in style with parquet floors and ceiling beams – the kitchen has a wooden counter top with 2 bar stools and is well equipped with an oven, induction hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a wooden dining table, which seats 4 and a comfy sofa bed (160cm) for 2 - there are no curtains in this room. The apartment has wifi and television but to curl up on the sofa with a good book with sunlight streaming in through all windows is the perfect relaxation. From this room you can access the bedroom and a comfortable spiral staircase beside the kitchen will take you to the roof terrace with incredible views of the sea and village. A large L shaped, outdoor sofa entices you on board – the ideal place to enjoy a evening apero or do a little sunbathing. The terrace has a small summer kitchen with electric hot plate. There is a washing machine and even w.c – handy for the sofa bed guests not wishing to go through the main bedroom to the bathroom. The bedroom is accessed by sliding doors off the sitting room. Again very pretty and bright with double bed (140cm) and sliding doors into the bathroom with open ceiling light, shower, w.c and wash hand basin. Finally the cherry on the cake, the apartment has air conditioning in both open plan living area and the bedroom – unusual in the village but necessary during the hot months with so many windows to allow so much sunshine through. Doux Bijou really is a coup de coeur – super for a couple but the sofa bed is a great option if you are travelling with one or two friends or family. Unfortunately it is not suitable for pets and small children due to security on the roof terrace. Parents are responsible for their children’s safety. The free shuttle bus, which runs from the town to the village every 15 minutes, has a bus stop opposite the apartment – you can also drop your luggage off directly in front of the building if driving. Private parking is very rare in the medieval village but free street parking and the paying village and town car parks are usually within a 2-7 minute walk away – you also have the option to jump on the free shuttle bus close to both car parks. The apartment is a short stroll to a good selection of restaurants and the village's main square, which is a hive of activity during the warmer months. The town below is within easy walking distance, where you can find a boulangerie, food market, boutiques, supermarket, cafes, post office, etc. The free shuttle bus from the town up to the village is also an option if you don't feel like walking.The town is well services with buses going to most places on the Cote d’Azur, plus there is a train station. The sea is a 25-30 minute walk and a free beach bus is provided from the town in July and August.
