The Space: Casalinho Macieira roughly translates as the little house with the apple tree. The name was inspired by the apple tree that greets you as you enter the property. The exterior is cosy with a lot of stone influence and blend between nature and the cottage itself, here you will find a great place to have early evening meals or morning brunches, while you soak up the sun and the crispy & fresh marine air which is influenced by both Sintra's hills and the Atlantic ocean. The cottage is equipped for 6 people, but it is inviting for any couple who wants to escape the city rush or a family who wants to connect with nature. As you continue on the ground floor, to your right by the entrance, you will find the spacious, bright and modernly rustic fully equipped kitchen, you can't help but imagine yourself cooking up a soulful homemade meal, you will find an electric 4 plate electric hob, an electric oven, a toaster, kettle, coffee maker and all other basic cooking utensils; within the kitchen you will find the half bathroom and a connecting door into the living room. The living room is a cosy area where you will find dark wooden influences from the dining table, to the mezzanine to the terracotta tiles; here you can enjoy dinners and lunches or enjoy quiet time reading a book. The mezzanine offers you a place to work or if you are a music enthusiast and know how to play an electric keyboard, feel free and be inspired and play to your heart's desire. As you venture up to the top floor, you will find to your left the second bedroom, that has a double bed, 2 windows which allow a lot of natural light in and the continuation of the dark wooden features. As you continue through the hallway you will find the full bathroom, which is elegantly refurbished with the main feature being the white and green pattern tiles, you have a bathtub with a shower over it, for nice relaxing baths after a day out of sightseeing. Finally, you have the last room which has a comfortable sofa-bed, the room has 2 windows too and it is ideal if you really want to have some quiet time, whilst looking out of the windows where you get a glimpse of the town, nature and sea view. Casalinho Macieira is the best choice if you want to combine nature, culture and beach. This rustic and quirky cottage is waiting just for your visit, make it your home away from home. The Neighborhood: Casalinho Macieira is found in the unique town named Azoia. It is known for its friendliness, traditional traits and micro-climate, the property is nestled in the old heart of the town. Azoia offers a range of many typical restaurants, a few coffee shops, near by bars with awesome sea views and daily fresh bread delivered near the cottage. The town is located 2km away from Cabo da Roca, known as the "most western point of Europe", ands as quoted by our great poet Luis de Camões "Here...where the land ends and the sea begins" in his acclaimed book "Os Lusíadas". Close to Azoía you will find the mysterious Sintra, the charming towns of Colares and Almoçageme; these locations are about a 20min drive away and to the opposite side you will head towards the inviting and ever so beautiful Cascais and the Lisbon coastline, equally a 20min scenic and picturesque drive mixed between the green mountain and the amazing atlantic ocean. Although Azoía caters to your daily needs, if you are keen on buying larger quantities and are searching for variety, you are better off shopping in Sintra, Almoçageme or Cascais for example. The nearest beaches are as follow: - Praia da Ursa (5 min drive) - Praia Grande, Praia Pequena, Praia das Maças. You can tell its going to arrive as a little queue forms on the roadside! The cafe right by the river in Colares is a nice breakfast spot. It is quite a traditional Portuguese style cafe but a good buzzy atmosphere and great coffee and pastries. Its called Cantinho da Varzea.
