Janelas de Sal is a fully equipped house in the heart of Aveiro, completely renovated and with independent entrance. The location could not be better! You will be hosted 10 steps away from the fish market, Capela de S. Gonçalinho, Arte Nova Museum, S. Roque canal, from taking a boat trip, learn how to do Ovos Moles or go to a nice bar or restaurant. If you wish to go to the beach, there are public transports nearby. If you need any assistance or suggestion we will be happy to help. We love to welcome our guests. Unfortunately, due to SARS-CoV-2 we believe that self-check-in is the safer way to receive our guests. So, in the check-in day, we will send you a numeric combination to open the door. Official government-issued ID data will be requested before check-in. Our guests’ safety is a main concern for us. We are compliant with hygiene and cleaning requirements for the prevention and control of COVID-19 and other possible infections. The house has two bedrooms, one WC, one open space living room and a kitchen and is furnished and equipped for families with children of all ages. Stair protection, crib, stroller and other nursery tools are available at the property. If you have kids under 5, we have a special price for you, let us know! The house is extremely quiet and isolated from the outdoor noise. Surrounding the house you can find delicious small and traditional restaurants where you can taste real traditional Portuguese food (or take it home). If you want to enjoy Aveiro's old town and simulate how it is to live in the city, explore Aveiro in a cultural way, have a good meal or go to the beach, you should consider to be our guest. Besides all the Aveiro “modern” and/or touristic offer, you can also travel in time and discover the old treasures hidden around Janelas de Sal. Janelas de Sal is located in a walking distance from the main interest points of the downtown area. Near the house you can find a big free public parking zone. If you park there you only need to cross the bridge Ponte dos Botirões (ou Ponte do Laço) to get home. For shorter periods, you can stop next to the house, for example to unload you luggage. If you plan a journey out of Aveiro, Janelas de Sal is at a maximum of 10 min walk from the bus stop to the beach (Barra or Costa Nova) or 20 min walk from the train station (in case you want to visit Porto, Coimbra, Lisboa). If you wish to visit other places, just let us know so we can help you. If you plan to take a walk, you have plenty to see and do. If you want to taste local specialities, at the end of the street you can find the restaurant Palhuça, where you can try typical Portuguese food, and one of the best bakeries/patisseries of Aveiro - Pastelaria Rossio. If you are looking for other kind of meals you have the delicious Ki Macrobiótico, a macrobiotic restaurant or The Primal House, a paleo one. If you walk around you will find many other delicious places to eat. If you are looking for something in particular, just let us know. If you are a juvenile and children's literature illustration lover, we strongly recommend you to visit the bookshop Gigões e Anantes, a 10 min walk from Janelas de Sal. We speak Portuguese, English, Italian, Spanish and a little French. Just let us know your preference language. Breakfast is not included, although you will always find coffee and tea at the house (and you can find delicious coffee shops and bakeries in the neighbourhood that you will not want to miss). Our registered guests have access to the whole house, including the equipped kitchen, living room, bedrooms, and bathroom. Guests can invite friends for a meal or a coffee but those are not allowed to be hosted in the house, since they are not registered. House services, such as cleaning or replacement of sheets and towels will be available if you stay 6 nights or more. Some extra sheets and towels will always be available at the house in case of need. The bedroom with the yellow wall can be arranged in multiple ways. It can have a single normal bed or two single (separated) beds that can be converted into a double bed if requested. The beds in this bedroom are low (30 cm from the floor), having in mind the comfort of families with young children. You only need to tell us in advance for how many guests you are booking and their age so we can arrange the best solution for you. For the youngest ones, there is a stair protection available in the property. However, in order to ensure children’s safety, the stairs should only be used under adult supervision. On the yellow wall is exhibited a photography gallery that can change over time. The biography of the invited photographer, as well as the photo price list, will be available on the wall. If you wish to buy some of the works just let us know. Smoking, parties, pets or not registered guests are not allowed. For any violation of the house rules, will be applied a €50 penalty.
