The White House, Brac

There can be few panoramic views more beautiful than the one from the terraces of The White House, Brač. This luxury new build is beautifully situated on the hillside of Pučišća on the unspoiled island of Brač. From here one can stare across the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic Sea to the dramatic mountain range high above the city of Split or turn and watch the dazzling white stone village of Pučišća turn a subtle shade of pink as the sun slowly sets behind it. Cleverly designed the villa is drenched in hot Mediterranean sun, yet allows the breeze to flow through the living areas and provides ample shade for those who wish it. Although it has a contemporary design, it makes use of the famous white Brač stone, the same stone that was used to build its better-known namesake The White House in Washington. Cleverly positioned terraces lined with native plants and trees soften the villa, and give guests a superb vantage spot at any time of day. The Villa: The villa, built as our own family escape, is individually and stylishly decorated with uncluttered elegance. It is a refuge for those seeking peace and tranquility but also incorporates all the modern conveniences one would expect in such a beautiful villa. The villas spacious construction allows for many people to holiday together happily. With its two kitchens, three reception rooms and many terraces large and small, one can either seek out the other guests or hide away with a book, depending on ones mood. All the bedrooms are designed to be calm and restful spaces and each boasts its own individually designed en-suite bathroom with hairdryer. Each bedroom has a flat screen TV and a separate air-conditioning unit, allowing guests to independently select their own indoor temperatures. The top floor: The top story boosts an elegant kitchen with all the necessary equipment to make beautiful meals, opening out onto a dining room and lounge area with fireplace. From here one can access the main balcony, terraces, open-air kitchen and pool. The second floor: The second story has four bedrooms and a media room with flat screen TV, sofa and beanbags for your comfort. All the bedrooms have access to the outside terraces from the rooms, one leading onto the 'Piazza', two with a shared balcony and the forth bedroom leading out to a walkway to the upper terraces. The bottom floor: The bottom story is where you enter the house from the gated parking area, into a large hallway. It also boosts a fully equipped kitchen and lounge/dining area which opens onto a small terrace. In addition, there are two bedrooms and a cloakroom. The gym and laundry room are also situated on this floor. Outdoors: The outdoor living spaces are comprised of terraces on different levels, some large enough to host all the guests together and others to encourage smaller gatherings. The sun deck is the very top story of the villa and is set-aside for the true sun worshipers, being an area bathed in sun from morning to night, with the large Jacuzzi offering a little respite. From here the view out to sea and down to the village is truly magnificent. On the main terrace sits the heated pool, also with the same unadulterated views. Here, behind the house, we have also installed an open air kitchen with a large BBQ and a Pizza oven, encouraging a perfect balance between inside and outside living. At the front of the villa is a large balcony with plenty of room for all the guests to sit and enjoy a meal together. The village: The small attractive village of Pučišća, voted one of Europe’s prettiest, is a five-minute walk down narrow cobbled streets. Here the warmth of local hospitality will enchant you and the lack of crowds will delight you. There are family run shops, bars and konobas (restaurants) to suit all tastes, all offering undiluted charm on this very special island. The sea is a stones throw away and the village boasts three public beaches, but the whole coastline dips elegantly into the sea and it is easy to find ones own unoccupied space just a few minutes walk from the house. It is also possible to rent boats, the local harbour master has a 12 seater rib he rents out for very comparative prices, fishing equipment, book boat excursions to other islands or just wander along the beautiful coast line, car hire is also possible or guests can rent bikes, all from the local tourist office in the village. Bol with its world famous 'Golden Horn' beach is a half hour bus ride away and the pretty harbour towns of Milna and Supetar are easily reached by bus or car. The journey: The closest airport is Split airport. The journey including the 50 minute car ferry crossing is between 2 – 3 hours. Zadar airport is a further hour away and Dubrovnik airport 1 ½ hours further away. Airport transfer by boat (45 minutes) can be arranged The house is on Brac island. The car ferry leaves Split ferry terminal regularly for SUPETAR (the capital of Brac). The ferry timetable can be found with Jardrolinija. There is a local bus service that leaves from the village centre, approx. 500m walk.
