Bookings for 2022, to ensure you get the dates you require please book early to avoid disappointment, we have limited availability for the high season in 2022. The strict cleaning of our gite is always our main concern, however because of COVID 19 we will endeavour to sanitise all major surfaces. Laundry is washed in Dettol Antibacterial liquid. The property will be throughly aired. The pool will be ‘shocked’ after each let or before new guests arrive bringing the chlorine levels up to a safe level. If you prefer to bring your own bedding and towels as a precaution we will welcome this, or if you prefer to use the Gites laundry that’s also fine. Please let us know when you make your booking. We live on site and are available for any help or advise you may need but social distancing will be kept at all times. It is a fully equipped holiday gite comfortably accommodating up to 6 persons, (maximum of five adults). There are two double bedrooms with en-suites and there is also a large 150cm wide comfortable sofa bed in the lounge. Both the bedrooms are light and bright and are tastefully decorated in Laura Ashley wall coverings, bedlinen, lamp shades and accessories. The bathroom in the duck egg blue bedroom has a powerful rainfall shower with attachment, the pink bedroom has a corner bath with shower head attachment, fluffy white towels, one hand towel and one bath sheet per guest and toiletries. External: Chez Lucy is set in the Perigord National forest. The garden is surrounded by the forest and we are so lucky to have the wild deer come on to our 6 acre field which is attached to the gite’s garden. There is rattan garden furniture seating nine people, which is great for relaxing with family or friends with a glass of wine or a beer or two!. There is a built in BBQ. The private pool with a decked area for sun bathing is south facing and in full sun all day. Sun beds and parasols are provided. The pool and garden is solely for the use of guests staying at the gite and is not shared by anyone else. For children there is a play area with a trampoline and a combination swing/slide/, this is in a shaded area of the garden. New for this year is lighting around the seating area, the driveway and in front of the gite making evening dining and relaxing on the rattan furniture possible. Internal: Fully equipped kitchen: Cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, there is use of a washing machine in an adjoining building. In the lounge there is a 43in flat screen televison with English and French channels, Blueray player, + DVD's. Games and jig saws. Gas central heating and log burner. Double bed settee, sofa and chairs Dining table seats 6 people. Free Fibre (download speed 397mbs) Iron and ironing board Travel Cot, high chair and stair gates are available on request free of charge. We provide you with a Welcome Pack to get you started, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and toilet tissue. Unfortunately we do not accept dogs. Chez Lucy is a great place for exploring the nearby tourist attractions, leisure activities, relaxing, or house-hunting. Places to visit: We are two miles from the historic town of Chalus, where the Chateau de Chalus- Chabrol dominates the town. Historically, the castle offered protection from various approaches to Limoges. However, it is most famous for the death of King Richard the Lionheart who died there from a crossbow wound fired during a siege of the castle in 1199. The small town has lots to offer with bars, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, hairdressers, beauty salons, newsagents, tabac’s, bakery, butcher, weekly markets and an open air swimming pool, (in season). Interests; Cyclist love this area, the roads are all in good condition and quiet. Local bicycle hire is available, where you can cycle along the Velo Verte at Chalus to Oradour sur Vayres stopping at the villages en-route. There are a variety of leisure lakes, with the closest at Bussiere Galant just a ten minute drive. It boosts Go Ape for juniors and adults, a huge zip wire crossing the lake, crazy golf, velocity-rail, beach and cafe. If you enjoy a high speed thrill there is an excellent go karting track a five minutes drive away, there is kayaking on the Vienne river at Aixe sur Vienne. A 20 minutes drive by car and you can explore the beautiful Dordogne where historic caves are on offer, the nearest is just a one hour drive away and most popular tourist town the stunning Brantome, overlooking the river Dronne with its pleasure boat rides. Walker and cyclists may also be interested that it is also en-route for the famous Camino de Santiago (way of St James), starting from Vezelay France. The medieval city of Limoges is 30 minutes by car, or bus located nearby, with Perigueux in the Dordogne being one hour. Both cities a worth exploring, with numerous bars, restaurants to suit all tastes. Limoges is also home to an excellent Zoo and Aquarium. Their are numerous pretty villages, stunning chateau’s to explore nearby and Oradour- sur -Glane’s muesum which is dedicated to the villagers who lost their lives in the 2nd World War. Brantôme the most photographed town in the Dordogne. The river boat trip is a must. It has quirky little streets with wonderful cafes, eateries and pretty shops. A beautiful Abbey can be visited on the banks of the river. Keen fisherman can access numerous fishing ponds and lakes in the vicinity. The gite has informative leaflets on attractions to visit and we are happy to advise guests.
