Have a coffee on the Place de la Mairie before strolling along the Corniche de la Falaise. In summer, a market is held there three times a week (Tuesday and Saturday morning, from 9 am to 12:30 pm, and a night market on Thursday). And throughout the season, the municipality offers various activities, which will allow you to discover all the treasures of Basque culture (dances, songs, Basque games of strength). Bidart offers 6 different beaches, which extend over nearly 6 km, some of which are particularly appreciated by surfers for their mythical waves. Only a few kilometres to the north is Biarritz, another treasure of the Basque Country. Although Biarritz was once just a fishing village engaged in whaling, it was Queen Eugénie and Napoleon III who spurred the city’s development and made it a meeting place for high society and the crowned heads of Europe. A few steps from the Hôtel du Palais is the private chapel of Eugénie and Napoleon III, the Imperial Chapel. Among the many activities, do not miss to pass by Le Rocher de la Vierge from which you will have a breathtaking view of the bay of Biarritz and the mythical Côte des Basques, and even on the contour of the Pyrenees in the distance in clear weather. Another great vantage point is the Phare de Biarritz: get ready to climb its 248 steps! Discover the Port des Pêcheurs where you can dine and taste delicious seafood and fish. Finally do not miss La Côte des Basques: one of the most famous surf spots, perfect waves for all levels and an atmosphere of "French California". Continue a little further south to the most elegant and exclusive Basque village: Guéthary. You will not forget its beautiful beaches of Cenitz, Lafitenia or the sight of its mythical surf spot of Parlementia. You will enjoy its summer nightlife and its delicious restaurants (Le Madrid, Restaurant Le C, Heteroclito, Iluminabar). For nature lovers, take the famous Coastal Path, between Bidart and Hendaye (20 km) A little further on the corniche, take a break and let yourself be enchanted by the Château Observatoire Abbadia and its breathtaking view. Just a few kilometres away, immerse yourself in the life of one of the most important French authors of the 19th century, Edmond Rostand, by visiting Villa Arnaga in Cambo les Bains. There are many outdoor activities: cat hobbie, canyoning, rafting, diving, surfing, horseback riding… Spain is only a few kilometres away: famous for its tapas evenings in old San Sebastian or Fontarrabie. Last but not least, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is only an hour and a half from the border.
