La Casa di Riccardo
Riccardo's house in the land of Soiana
number 57 of Via Pier Capponi, the main road of Soiana, there is "Villa Mostardi-Fioretti" inside which the apartment "La Casa di Riccardo" is located. The Villa is located on the site of the ancient medieval castle, as evidenced by the road that runs alongside the villa from below along the left side and which is called "via di Castello". Its construction is certainly to be considered after 1496 and whose origins are currently being studied at the Historic Archive of Pisa. The system we are given to see today is from the 18th century. Of particular interest is the stone coat of arms of the ancient owners placed on the entrance in the central part of the facade between the second and third floors. The apartment, of about 50 square meters and in October 2014 some renovations were completed which allowed to give the current aspect. As soon as you enter the house, a small terracotta entrance introduces the internal room consisting of a large studio flat of about 26 sq m on the right of which is a fir loft of about 11 sq m. with an antique wrought iron railing that delimits it on two sides. The restoration works allowed to recover an old neoclassical stove and a Venetian grit floor with central rose window. In the studio, as on the mezzanine, period furnishings finish the environment bringing everything back to the taste of the past. A fountain effect, placed in the right corner of the room on exposed brick, accompanies the step up the stairs to the upper mezzanine. A magnificent Tuscan terracotta vault, with a central fresco, praising the union between man and woman, covers the studio apartment. Finally, on the left side of the room there is the 5sqm bathroom and a small but comfortable masonry kitchen (3.5sqm) whose ceilings are covered with wooden beams and bricks. Two windows overlook an enchanting panorama that sees the Valdera and the Tuscan Apennines unfold. Going down to the ground floor you can enjoy the use of the large communal garden where there is a swimming pool with two magnificent centuries-old holm oaks. From the small gate you can easily access Via Sandro Pertini where the use of the parking space marked on the ground by No. 8 is foreseen for exclusive use.
