Casale Lavanda
Tuscan villa with private pool, air con, wifi- Casale Lavanda has been fully restored using traditionally Tuscan materials and features: original chestnut beams, terracotta floors, antique furniture, and a spacious stone terrace with barbecue for outdoor dining underneath the pergola with a view of Cortona's center up on the hill. Combined with the modern convenience of wifi, modern bathrooms and kitchen, and air conditioning in every room Casale Lavanda offers a high level of comfort and style. Access is from the ground floor (kitchen/dining, living room with fireplace, half bath, bedroom). On the first floor (also accessed from an outdoor staircase) there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The exceptionally large and private swimming pool enjoys all day exposure to the sun in the garden where kids have plenty of space to play and run; lavender and rosemary bushes line the stone walkways all around the house and olive trees are scattered throughout, making Casale Lavanda truly picturesque. The small fraction called "Ossaia" is at a distance of 1.5 kms from the house- there is an excellent restaurant/pizzeria (La Tufa) and a small bar. There is a fully stocked mini market at 3.5 kms, and also several larger supermarkets in Camucia (4.5 kms) and in Terontola (4 kms), both fully serviced towns. Casale Lavanda is set in the perfect location for touring all of Tuscany and Umbria with Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Chianti, Pienza, Siena, Florence, Assisi, Perugia and many more towns just a short and easy drive away. Tuscany's charming coastal towns, beaches, and natural parks are all within a couple hours drive making it possible to also spend a day at the seaside. All services, supermarkets, restaurants, wineries, thermal baths, walking and cycling paths, shopping villages, and best of all many of the most famous Medieval town centers in Italy are all in the vicinity. Main line train stations in Camucia and Terontola are only a ten minute drive away. Relax and enjoy a meal or an aperitivo out on the terrace with a beautiful view of Cortona’s historic center up on the hill. Home of the famous "Under the Tuscan Sun" novel by Frances Mayes and subsequent film, Cortona is a unique mix of small town authenticity combined with an international community and cultural richness. The beginning of Spring in Cortona brings with it the start of an exciting and varied season of theatre, literary recitals, art shows, photographic exhibitions (Cortona On The Move), eclectic music festivals (Cortona Mix Festival, Umbria Jazz festival in Perugia), antique fairs, Trasimeno Blues music festival at the nearby Trasimeno Lake, and gastronomical events combined with the many fine wines produced in the surrounding area, one of the world's most famous wine regions. Every Thursday night participate in the Molesini "Wine Dine and Shine" wine tastings in the piazza and dinners, each one taking place in one of Cortona's numerous and equally exquisite restaurants. For a truly enchanting Italian experience, Casale Lavanda is just the place.
