Ca' Remer Grand Canal
HOT NEWS on the Rialto! - A splendid new apartment that had us at hello! Open the shutters and prepare to be dazzled by fantastic Grand Canal views from the Rialto Bridge to your right to Ca’ Foscari to your left, over one of the most iconic waterways in the world. Accessed via a hidden rear entrance near the Teatro Goldoni which belies its special frontage, and super-centrally placed near the Church of San Salvador between buzzy Campos San Luca and San Bartolomeo in the San Marco district, Ca’ Remer (or ‘House of the Oar Maker’) is on the 3rd floor and reached by lift to the 2nd floor and then taking one flight of stairs. A handsome haven of calm above the hubbub and boasting a much-prized traditional ‘altana’ rooftop terrace with views to the rear towards St. Mark’s Campanile, the domes of the Basilica and the silvery curves of the Teatro’s auditorium, the apartment sleeps 4 in a soothingly sedate setting of cool colours and classic, unfussy furnishings. With Wi-Fi connection for keeping in touch, the elegant accommodation comprises a main air-conditioned kitchen/dining/sitting room looking onto the Grand Canal and stylishly appointed with rug-topped terrazzo flooring, plenty of comfy seating and a dining suite seating four beneath eye-catching chandeliers. There are two tasteful bedrooms, each with double bed - one with air-conditioning, whitewashed beams, a small terrace to the rear plus a separate bathroom with a smart black marble shower, and the other with wooden flooring and a vaulted beamed ceiling on the floor above (please note that the air-conditioning unit on this upper level is located in the corridor adjacent to the bedroom). Also on the upper floor is a landing beneath the eaves giving access to Ca’ Remer’s second bathroom (with washing machine, w.c. and wash hand basin only - please note the restricted headspace) and from where a few steps rise up to the ‘altana’ rooftop terrace. Our Comment Love at first sight in the heart of San Marco, with all of Venice at your feet! A short stroll to St. Mark’s Square and some of Venice's finest attractions including the gorgeous Gothic Palazzo Fortuny (Museum of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo - famous photographer, painter, stage and textile designer), the charming Scala Contarini del Bovolo and the Teatro La Fenice. Within seconds of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city and the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon (just in front of Ca’ Remer) and San Silvestro in the San Polo district. Literally steps away from the new Coop supermarket on the Riva Del Carbon, and a stone’s throw to the newly opened and amazing 'T Fondaco Dei Tedeschi' luxury department store. Also moments to the "Multisala Rossini" complex handily housing a 3-screen cinema, bar, restaurant and large Punto Simply supermarket and a quick hop across the Rialto Bridge to the fish, fruit and vegetable markets - best get there early!
