Overview The house has been purpose built by local architects from Barcelona to best capture the stunning views overlooking the Mediterranean, France and the Cap de Creus national park. Each of the bedrooms as well as the en suite bathroom have different and amazing views from floor to ceiling windows that give the impression of being on the deck of a boat while being on the comfort of dry land. The architects, one of whom practically grew up in the village, also designed the house to be as user-friendly as possible as a house to be used rather than simply looked at. The house has been featured in the New York Times and in Wallpaper. Access to the house is by a small road in front of the property into a private double garage on street level. You can then walk up to the ground floor past the infinity pool overlooking the sea and enter the house either by the kitchen or the utility room around the back of the house. Ground Floor The entire ground floor is an open area of around 120m2 divided into different spaces for entertaining, cooking or relaxing. Each separate area has its own view, furniture and role but the open nature of the space means that each area drifts seamlessly into the others and it can mould to how you wish to use it. Kitchen area The house contains a fully equipped kitchen at one end of the ground floor. It has a built-in oven, fridge freezer which includes a water filter, more cupboard space than you could ever need and a kitchen island which contains an induction hob and also space for eating. There is also a large sink and dishwasher facing the wall with an Italian espresso machine for your use. A built-in microwave, toaster, kettle and kitchen utensils, plates, bowls and cutlery for up to 16 people. Relaxing area Next to the kitchen and also with its own floor to ceiling view out to the sea is a relaxing area with two lounge chairs to have a relaxing coffee, and afternoon cocktail or to simply sit and read and stare out over the sea to see the tip of the French coast. Dining area To the other side of the ground floor is the large Jean Prouve aluminium dining table overlooking the sea and the edge of the national park. Sitting perpendicular to the floor to ceiling window and 2.5m long, the dining table allows 8 people to comfortably sit and each have a view of the sea over lunch or dinner and can seat up to 12 at a pinch. The black Shanghai Hay chairs surrounding the table are both robust and comfortable. Reading area Round from the dining table is a reading area with a double sofabed which looks out to the centre of the floor and again to the sea and which borders a fireplace hanging from the ceiling which can rotate to direct the heat to different parts of the house. Behind the sofabed are floor to ceiling bookcases containing a wide variety of serious and not so serious books for you to borrow and enjoy. There is also a television which can be hidden away with the revolving bookcase but can also be used for watching any of the movies downloaded onto the Apple TV connected to it or local Spanish television. Lounge area Joining the two halves of the ground floor is a large and comfortable lounge area with a large leather sofa facing directly out to the sea, and other single lounge chairs surrounding a large coffee table. Overhanging this area is a wall light which can be rotated easily to wherever you want the light. There is no building directly above the lounge area which means that the room stretches up to about 6m tall which makes it very light and feel even more spacious. Utility room and toilets The back of the house is accessed via a utility room which contains a washing machine a dryer and the controls of the house. It is a great place for leaving any shoes, shopping, swimming paraphernalia and has plenty of cupboards for this purpose. You’ll also find beach towels and inflatables for the pool or beach here which you are welcome to use. Just next to the utility room is a toilet with a rainforest shower which is both convenient when using the ground floor or swimming pool and in also is very useful if you are making use of the sofabed downstairs. Floor and heating The floor is made of a rendered concrete which is both easy to clean and comfortable to walk on. The underfloor heating means that it stays warm even if you visit early or late in the year. Bedrooms Master bedroom Above one side of the house is the master bedroom which has an absolutely beautiful view over the sea and the tip of the national park. It has a double bed with built-in drawers, multiple built-in cupboards and wardrobes and space to stow away your bags. The ensuite bathroom has a large bath overlooking the national park and a separate room for the toilet. The master bedroom is accessible either via the side stairs to the front of the house or via a bridge connecting the two halves of the upstairs. It is quiet and private from the rest of the house. Bedroom 2 The second bedroom is located above the kitchen area and again contains a double bed with built in drawers, further cupboard space and a further view of the sea and the edge of France. Bedroom 3 The third large double bedroom has another view of the sea with floor to ceiling windows and sufficient space for an extra single bed or cot. Again it contains a built-in wardrobe and cupboards. It also has direct access to a private terrace overlooking the sea. Bedroom 4 The fourth bedroom at the back of the house has a view over the national park and direct access to the patio at the back of the house. It has two single beds that can easily be joined together as a double bed and storage facilities. Main bathroom The main bathroom which is very close to all three bedrooms contains a large rainforest shower, a sink and a toilet. Pool and garden In front of the house and directly overlooking the sea is an 8m x 4m infinity swimming pool which has steps which lead into the pool and between the two depth levels. In front of the house, easily accessible from the lounge area and kitchen is wooden decking where you can sit and relax on the comfortable outdoor furniture. These chairs can be moved down next to the pool or down to the patio over the garage which also contains a large outdoor table and chairs for your convenience. There is also a built-in bench which can be used for extra seating. Finally behind the house but with an unrestricted view of the sea there is also a back patio with a built-in bench which provides shelter from the occasional strong winds coming off the sea and greater privacy.
