The stately home of Corsham Court houses a celebrated collection of old master paintings; and if you take a stroll around the enchanting gardens and parkland, designed by Capability Brown, you may see Corsham’s famous peacocks. The town has 17th century Flemish weavers’ cottages, the Hungerford Almshouses, old inns, an idyllic cricket pitch and an elegant town hall. Corsham’s historic architecture was used in the filming of the TV production of ‘Poldark’. The sports centre (including swimming pool), is across the road for those wanting a more active break. For evening entertainment, The Pound Arts Centre hosts comedians, music, film and theatre (just 5 minutes’ walk away).
