This 16th Century detached house nestles into the hillside of Church Street and is perfectly placed for those wishing to explore Bath and the surrounding countryside. The train station is only a short walk (approx 12 mins) down Widcombe Hill with the historic city centre and shops just moments beyond. Alternatively, a stroll along Church Street will bring you into the countryside and the stunning grounds of the National Trust's Prior Park Gardens. THE SPACE This historic house immense charm and homeliness. Inside it retains many of the original features such as stone mullion windows, open fire places, beams and a spiral staircase. Outside, it has a delightful hillside garden with paved areas for outdoor dining. The layout of the house is best understood by studying the floor plan which is included with the photos. Sleeping and Soaking: The house is spread over 3 floors and can easily accommodate 9 people: Bedroom 1 (2nd floor) 2 x single beds. Bedroom 2 (2nd floor) 1 x single bed. Bedroom 3 (1st floor) 1 x double bed. Bedroom 4 (1st floor) 1 x double bed. Bedroom5 (ground floor) 1 x double bed There are plenty of bathrooms: Bathroom 1 (1st floor) en suite shower, basin and loo. Bathroom 2 (1st floor) bath, basin and loo. Bathroom 3 (1st floor) shower, basin and loo. Bathroom 4 (Ground floor) en suite shower, basin and loo. Cooking, Eating and Relaxing: The cottage has no less than 4 rooms in which to relax. On the Ground Floor is a sitting room/entrance hall with a fine 17th century fireplace with a wood burner. Also, on this floor is the TV room. On the First Floor is a spacious and well-equipped kitchen/dining/living area which runs the width of the house (9.34m/30'8") and has a dining table for 10, a sofa, armchairs and a second fireplace with a wood burner. Finally, directly off the kitchen is another area in which to relax - the conservatory - whose French doors open on to the garden. Utility Areas: Both the Laundry Room and Boot Room are found on the Ground Floor. Outside: There is a delightful terraced cottage garden (approx 1/3 acre) on 3 sides of the house, with fruit trees, a summer house, small pond and paved areas for outside dining. The garden is NOT suitable for children under 5 years. Car Parking: I will provide you with a Parking Permit for Church Street. Additional free parking is available on Widcombe Hill.
