Schwalbenhof Gudderitz
Thatched farmhouse Schwalbenhof Gudderitz
Our thatched farmhouse dates from the mid-19th Century and has the charm of old houses. We have modernized and expanded the house over the past few months while maintaining the old building fabric and with great attention to detail. The house is located in a grown village structure on the outskirts of the village practically in a secluded location. The farmstead is already mentioned in 1695 on the so-called Swedish register. The Schwalbenhof has a large garden with a natural, small pond. We are also very proud that NABU has awarded us the "Swallow-Friendly House" certificate. Our barn swallows live in the barn and can be seen doing their flying tricks from the terrace in the summer months. The Schwalbenhof has a total of four bedrooms. The two bedrooms on the ground floor are furnished with double beds and have a barrier-free en-suite bathroom with floor-level showers. The two dormer rooms can be used flexibly. A large family bathroom with a walk-in shower is available on the upper floor. We love antique furniture. Our house is with originals from the 18th or 19th Century and midcentury pieces decorated Scandinavian. You may also recognize some design icons such as the practical stacking bed by Rolf Heide. The fabrics made from natural materials such as cotton and linen come from well-known publishers such as Chivasso and Jab. Our kitchen is equipped for guests who - especially in the winter months - really want to cook and enjoy: there is a range cooker with a large induction field and appropriate equipment for a nicely set table. The old wood stove in the kitchen invites you to a cozy get-together at the kitchen table with a wood fire. In the summer months you can grill on the large Weber gas grill on the terrace. The Baltic Sea and the Bodden can be easily reached by bike from the Schwalbenhof in 10 - 15 minutes. Hochufer and Bakenberg are our personal favorites: a beautiful bike path leads through fields - with a view of the two lighthouses, in the east Cape Arkona, in the west the thorn bush on Hiddensee. The Schaabe is considered the most beautiful beach in Rügen: miles of fine sandy beach lined with dense pine forest is particularly suitable for swimming and splashing around with small children. In January 2019, a shipwreck from the 18th Century washed up. In spring and autumn, we can particularly recommend the bike trail around Cape Arkona. Here there are breathtaking views from the high bank to Tromper Wiek and Jasmund, small cafes offer homemade cakes and invite you to take a break. Our guests should especially enjoy the autumn and winter months after long walks, crane watching or seal views on the high banks of the Wittow by the crackling fire. A Danish cast iron stove warms the living and reading room. The icing on the cake is our old original tiled stove from the Wilhelminian era. It originally comes from a Uckermark forest house and has now been redone after a long time in the best craft tradition by a stove maker from Stralsund. We would like to share a few special features with our guests. Old farmhouses from the early 19th Century have a low ceiling height, with us on the ground floor it is approx. 220 cm. Dear families, we have a beautiful natural pond with frogs and dragonflies, but please take care of your offspring. Please also keep in mind that after the conversion, the lawn is not yet perfect again. And last but not least: open fires are not permitted in and around the house - to protect the thatched roof.
