Oakside cottage has traditional features like exposed oak beams but is up to date with a nice kitchen, bathroom and lounge so your stay will be very comfortable. There is parking for one small to medium-sized car outside the cottage. Plenty of free on-street parking is available within close walking distance. Enjoy fantastic views of Skiddaw and Blencathra from the dining area and relax on the comfortable sofas. Fibre optic broadband wifi and a smart TV allow you to catch up on what's going on outside Braithwaite! The hill/fell walking from Braithwaite is superb. There is the famous Coledale Horseshoe round taking in Grisedale Pike, Crag Hill, Sale Fell and Causey Pike. Whinlatter Forest is on the door step and it is about 30 minute walk to Derwentwater. We have three good pubs in the village, the Coledale Inn, The Royal Oak and The Middle Ruddings Hotel. All have cosy bar areas and serve great food. The Ivy House Hotel just across the road from the cottage has a nice dining room for evening meals. Braithwaite has a village shop that is open till late and sells all the necessities for a short stay, including daily newspapers, milk, coffee and pies! The busy market town of Keswick is two miles away and has a multitude of outdoor gear shops, pubs and restaurants . There are regular bus services to Keswick or you could get a taxi, cycle or walk (30 minutes ish).
