West Wemyss- two bedroom flat with gorgeous views
West Wemyss- two bedroom apartment with gorgeous views across Forth to Edinburgh
This charming two bedroom, second floor apartment in a 100 year old building with five other apartments in the heart of the picturesque village of West Wemyss, on the Forth coast of Fife, is only a few minutes walk from the pretty harbour and 117 mile long Fife Coastal Path which follows the coast from the Firth of Forth, around the East Neuk of Fife, ending up at the Firth of Tay. The apartment is tastefully furnished to a high standard. Beautiful views of Edinburgh across the Forth are afforded from the apartment's high perch overlooking the pan tiled roofs below. The award-winning listed village of West Wemyss is a perfect quiet get-away with it's population of only 260. There are no shops in the village, but there is a heritage centre, a lovely little café which is open four days a week, serving coffee, home baking, lunches and fish on Fridays and is licensed, and a community pub which is open three days a week and is completely run by local volunteers - the perfect place to go on a cold, windy day and sit around the wood stove with a whisky in Winter or sit outside with a pint in the Summer. Supermarkets and other shopping are available just a short drive away in Dysart or Kirkcaldy. Public transportation is good with a bus leaving the village every hour to Kirkcaldy railway station where frequent trains to Edinburgh stop taking only 35 minutes to Waverley Station. If driving, there is free parking at Kirkcaldy railway station. Apart from it's closeness to the Fife Coastal Path, West Wemyss is also close to the beautiful fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife and a mere 21 miles from the golfing mecca of St. Andrews. The Edinburgh International Festival is a huge attraction for people from all over the world, needless to say, it is almost impossible to find accommodation in Edinburgh at this time of year, and if you're successful, it can be prohibitively expensive. West Wemyss is a wonderful alternative to actually staying in the city. Drive to Kirkcaldy station, jump on a train and be right in the thick of the amazing festival atmosphere in just 35 minutes. Take the last train back at night having wined and dined in Edinburgh, jump in a taxi at Kirkcaldy station back to the apartment, easy !
