SIMPSON COTTAGE ENCHANTING AND HISTORICAL and just 1.5hr from Sydney Heritage listed, sandstone cottage built in the 1870s, it was the original home of the Simpson family; set on a large parcel of private gardens with expansive water views across to Maianbar and beyond. 3 bedrooms sleeps 8 Large modern bathroom and Kitchen. Second bathroom located in the garage/studio. All linen supplied including beach and bath towels. LOCATION Tucked away within the National Park in the seaside town of Bundeena, the cottage provides luxury accommodation for couples, two families, a group of friends or mid-week escapes. ORIGINAL FEATURES Many original features have been retained including wrought iron, original fireplace, high timber lined ceilings, front door with the original lock and French doors and exposed sandstone walls. It’s a step back in time with today’s modern conveniences. KITCHEN & BATHROOM. SPACIOUS KITCHEN with a dishwasher, large oven and 6 burner gas cook top, microwave large sink, fridge and freezer with polished concrete benches and exposed sandstone walls, heated floor and direct access to the veranda where the BBQ is housed under cover. LARGE BATHROOM with heated floors and frame-less shower and large bath. GARAGE STUDIO SECOND BATHROOM is located in the studio with three sofas and is ideal when the kids want to escape from the grown ups. its in here that much of the Simpson Cottage linen is made. The latest edition in here is a pinball machine from the 1970's. 3 BEDROOMS. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed with views, Bedroom 2 has a king that be split in to two singles Bedroom 3 has one bunk, a day bed and trundle bed. LIVING AND DINING The living room has the original working fire place and sofas. The dining area is housed in the gazebo and comfortably seats 8 with views over the water, there is a private picnic table with point blank views towards Maianbar and beyond. BBQ: a large BBQ is located under cover between the kitchen and dining gazebo. WE PROVIDE: Coffee and tea, linen, towels, soaps and cleaning products, a supply of "cupboard essentials" is also provided. ALL LINEN IS PROVIDED Kitchen linen is all hand made by the owner using rustic traditional style linen imported directly from small mills in Europe. Much of the bedding is also hand made by the owner. We use pure linen made from the finest flax grown and processed in Europe. For your added security, this property is only managed in Australia and we never request payments be made to overseas bank accounts AROUND THE COTTAGE Hire a nearby kayak and glide alongside dolphins or simply relax under the gum trees whilst reading the Sunday paper. Whichever way you chose to pass away the time in the peaceful and tranquil surrounds, Simpson Cottage provides a unique experience EXPLORE THE AREA OR NEVER LEAVE. ITS YOUR CHOICE On the door step you have bush walks, kayaks and paddle boards so you can explore the Royal National Park for days. Nearby are secluded surf beaches where you can catch waves without the crowds. You may prefer the more cosmopolitan option of Bundeena's cafes all within walking distance or the quaint and historical ferry ride to Cronulla beach. Or you may decide to stay put which plenty of people choice is yours. SPACE The cottage sits in a parkland setting of 1500m2 and private access to the beach and national park via a 100m bush track. VIEWS DAY AND NIGHT From the wide verandas you can take in the views over Simpson's Bay to Mainbar and beyond, spot playful dolphins, watch the beautiful sunsets and once the sun has set the gazebo/dining area is the perfect place to lose yourself with friends and family as you watch the twinkling lights reflecting on the water over dinner. WINTER OR SUMMER Simpson Cottage is the ideal get away. IN THE WINTER The front veranda is ideal for soaking up the sun while admiring the view and the cozy gazebo is the ideal space when it's too cold to be outside but you want to make the most of the views. OPEN FIREPLACE The open fire is original and ideal for curling up in cosy comfort, relax in style and be transported back in time. IN THE SUMMER Cool breezes, wide verandas and private access to the beach ensure you can stay cool. BEACH AND PICNIC GROUNDS Below the cottage via the track are public picnic grounds perfect for a game of family cricket and ideal for the kids to play and amuse them selves safely INCLUSIONS Bed linen and towels are provided. THE KITCHEN Completely renovated in July has polished concrete bench-tops, large electric oven and gas cook-top, plenty of fridge space, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine (Nesspresso pod style) and to compliment the out-door life style a large six burner BBQ is located under cover close to the kitchen. BATHROOM has under floor heating, luxury freestanding bath, large frame-less rain shower. UPON ARRIVAL to start your escape you'll find tea, coffee (including coffee machine pods), milk, sugar and something sweet. LINEN for all beds is provided, much of it is handmade on site from the finest European grown flax, towels are handwoven in Turkey by the last remaining artisans. PRODUCTS all our products provided are eco friendly, made in Australia or made in the traditional way using old world methods and recipes, they can be purchased during your stay or online through the Simpson Cottage website. No national park fees are incurred unless you park within the Royal National Park. Bundeena is NOT considered to be part of the park so parking is regulated by Sutherland Shire Council. WHY BUNDEENA Location Only one hour drive from Sydney CBD on the edge of the Royal National Park, Bundeena offers a large number of activities in both winter and summer. Beaches There are four beautiful Bundeena beaches as well a 10 minute drive to the beaches of the National Park including famous surf at Garie & North Era and the pretty protected inlet of Watamolla. Walking From the cottage there is access to a variety of walks, including the Bundeena - Maianbar heritage trail marking Simpson Cottage, available on local maps. There are several day walks around Jibbon Headland which include aboriginal rock engravings. For hikers there is the fantastic two-day coastal track through the Royal National Park from Bundeena to Otford, recognised as one of the best coastal walks in New South Wales. OTHER Kayaking. NB kayaks can be rented on Bonnie Vale Beach just below the cottage Fishing Charming ferry which leaves every hour to Cronulla Local water taxi for tours and whale watching Tennis courts Bundeena Art Trail on the first Sunday of every month Cafes & Asian Food at the local bowling club and Aussie fare and Pizzas at the RSL club. Markets are on the first Sunday of everything where you can buy locally made goods as well as gifts and treasures to remember your stay. You can drive to Bundeena and Maianbar and park in streets without incurring the National Park
