Maison du charme 3 minutes de Haras Pompadour

Situated just 3 minutes from Pompadour & the Haras Nationale is a traditional stone built cottage of around 300 years old which sleeps 4 people. We are conveniently located for the beautiful town of Pompadour - known as the "City of Horses" situated in "Nouvelle Aquitaine" and less than 3 minutes from all shops, bars and restaurants. The cottage sits in it's own grounds of just under 2 acres with a small forest to the rear and backs on to local apple orchards. The cottage comfortably sleeps 4 There are two double bedrooms (both bedrooms have cooling fans for summer and heaters for winter) a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge, microwave etc an open plan diner and comfortable lounge. There is satellite TV and Wi-Fi internet is available. There is a covered terrace which faces south for outdoor dining and BBQ. If you are interested in water sports then Rouffiac is only 15 minutes away, for water skiing, kayaking, canoe hire etc. Outside activities for the children include a ping pong table, badminton/tennis/volleyball net and there is plenty of space to let off some steam! There is also a quiet shady part of the garden where you can sit and relax. We discovered the cottage completely derelict and overtaken by nature in the beginning of 2016 and have now completely modernised it and rescued it and given it a new lease of life. The cottage still has it's original bread oven and the well which was the only source of water (don't worry mains water was installed during the renovations - together with electricity!). We are open all year as there is heating in the cottage together with a wood burning stove. Want to get your kids off the internet? try building a den in our forest (check out our photos for an example from some previous guests!). There are many restaurants and bars less than 3 minutes away and main supermarkets, bakeries etc - these are all found in the main town of Pompadour. A visit to it's historic castle and grounds is a must! If you fancy a day on a beach we have at least 3 large lakes with white sandy beaches and supervised bathing all within 30 minutes drive. There is also Rouffiac which is famous for it's watersports and outdoor activities. For breathtaking scenery why not visit the waterfalls at Gimel-les-Cascades just 50 minutes away and although we are based in the Correze we are just over the border with Dordogne so are very close to attractions such as Rocamadour, and Beynac for canoeing down the river Dordogne, or Beaulieu sur Dordogne, Segur-le-Chateau - known as one of the most beautiful villages in france - is just 10 minutes away with it's Monday morning market during the holiday season, bars and a couple of restaurants. The cottage and it's surrounding area are quiet and tranquil but only 3 minutes from town so you get the best of both worlds. Don't forget to check out the specialist bakeries in Pompadour - we can guarantee you won't find better cakes and pastries and having lived in France for more than 10 years we have tried a few!
