Stay in a stunningly restored historic house sleeping up to 14 with modern levels of comfort to suit families and groups of friends. The Malthouse is a Grade II listed building in the heart of a picturesque village that’s the perfect base for memorable holidays near Bath. The large kitchen/dining area comfortably seats 14 with an open fireplace. There are 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, two stylish lounges with a 55 inch TV and views out onto the garden and rolling countryside beyond. As soon as you walk through the heavy oak door into the original cart-way entrance, you’ll feel the warmth of this welcoming home. A couple of steps from the entrance take you to an easily accessible ground floor king bedroom with a shower and toilet. The stylish handmade kitchen, fully fitted and dining room has a working stone fireplace and a huge pine dining table that can host up to 14 people. The kitchen leads to two comfortable lounges, both thoughtfully furnished. One has an inglenook fireplace to warm yourself by on colder days, a deep sofa and a workspace. The other is the garden room where you can enjoy far-reaching views of the idyllic countryside. Elegantly proportioned, it has a 55 inch smart TV and plenty of room for family games and relaxation. The turret stairway leads you, with help from a rope bannister, up to the first floor where there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. All the bedrooms are large and comfortable with crisp Egyptian cotton linen and fluffy towels. The master bedroom, flooded with light from the dual aspect windows, is beautifully decorated and can also be a mini-suite. The second floor has the remaining two bedrooms. One with views over the garden and countryside, the other twin room has a captivating view of the ancient malthouse roof through a floor-to-ceiling glass window. This is an ideal family room, sharing the bathroom and entrance to the floor. The outside space has a big open courtyard and a large, long, well-managed garden with views. The village has two great pubs, including one of the oldest inns in England, a farm shop and a local convenience store. The UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath with its many historic attractions is a 15-minute drive away. You can easily reach pretty Bradford on Avon, the trendy market town of Frome, and charming Bruton for its acclaimed Hauser & Wirth art gallery.
