Summary: 'Honey Bee' is a wonderful single storey holiday home renovated and extended in 2022 to accommodate eight guests in the picturesque village of Orford. Arguably one of the prettiest village on the Suffolk Coast with a wealth of attractions including a Medieval Castle, quaint cottages, welcoming pubs, award winning independent shops and a picturesque quay offering river cruises. Enjoy indoor/outdoor living in the light and airy open plan living/kitchen/dining room, ideal for socialising with friends and family at any time of the year with doors opening to the garden and a wood burner for chilly days. All four bedrooms are tastefully decorated, two with chic modern en suites in addition to the family bathroom, and bed configurations are a super-king zip and link, a king, double and twin. An added bonus is the secluded and generous garden and seating area tucked around the back making it ideal for children to run around or to enjoy a BBQ in the warmer months! Parking for two cars and the location close to the heart of the village allows you to walk to the pub or restaurants and explore the area by foot or bike. If you want to go further afield, you're just a short drive to the beach and fashionable town of Aldeburgh; National Trust Sutton Hoo (of The Dig fame!), vibrant Woodbridge and plenty of sporting activities with tennis, golf and sailing. The Space: The open plan living/kitchen/dining room at the heart of the house is ideal for socialising with friends and family, with doors opening into the garden so you can make the most of indoor/outdoor living in the summer months and a wood burner so you can stay cosy in the winter. All four bedrooms are on the ground floor with a twin to your right off the entrance hall; a bedroom with super king zip and link next to it (be sure to let us know if you want twin or double configuration), and a double with en suite bathroom ahead of you. There's also a family bathroom off the hallway, conveniently located for guests in the first two bedrooms or in the reception rooms. The fourth bedroom is off the living area, furnished with a king size bed, with an en suite shower room and doors opening to the garden so you can enjoy your morning coffee in the sun. The garden is fully enclosed but please do keep an eye on any children or pets as we can't guarantee it's escape proof! The Neighborhood: Orford is the perfect place for anyone who wishes to get away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life and wishes to enjoy the peace and quiet of a village little changed over the years. A beautiful spot offering a perfect base for walkers, cyclists, artists or those who wish to wander down to the river to watch the fishing boats go by! It lies within the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty. The village has an enchanting history, largely having grown since Henry II commissioned the popular Castle to be built in the 12th century. Once upon a time Orford was a bustling commercial and fishing port, however as Orfordness spit continued to grow it became harder for the boats to enter the estuary mouth, just 5 miles from Orford. The quay, whilst still used for smaller fishing craft and river tour boats, was built by the Normans, as was the stunning church in the village centre. Orford has plenty to offer with regards to eating and drinking. It boasts two fabulous pubs, The Jolly Sailor and The Kings Head, as well as some superb restaurants, especially Pinney’s fish restaurant. One of our favourite places to go is to the Pump Street Bakery, which is world famous and offers especially delicious food and drink! For sporty guests there are Tennis Courts and a Recreation Sports Ground with its own Clubhouse and children’s play area. Football is played on the Recreation Ground, which is also the site of the Annual Flower Show in August. Other sports and societies thrive including Bowls, Sailing and Badminton. The village is 20 miles from Ipswich, 12 miles from both Woodbridge and Aldeburgh, and 5 miles from the famous Snape Maltings complex, popular for its magnificent Concert Hall and nearby Galleries and Shops. Orford and its immediate surrounding area are renowned for culture and good eating. Other Things to Note: Please note, should government restrictions come into force that don't allow you to travel we will issue a full refund and disregard the cancellation policy.
