The Granary is a beautiful self catering rural retreat, but only 4 miles from the lovely town of Llanidloes with lots of local shops and produce and supermarkets. It has an open plan kitchen/sitting room with wood burner. It is located in beautiful upland Montgomeryshire on the east side of the Cambrian Mountains on the east slope of Bryan y Fan and has spectacular 40 mile views down the Trannon & Severn Valley. We can currently only except bookings from guests from Wales over Easter, sorry, them's the rules at the moment due to Covid restrictions. The Granary is a lovely relaxing and cosy rural self catering cottage consisting of a converted cart shed below and granary above, with a new open plan kitchen/sitting room with a wealth of character, beams and wood burner. It is located in the stunning upland Montgomeryshire countryside on the eastern escarpment of the Cambrian Mountains at 1100 feet on Bryn y Fan, looking east and south down the Trannon valley which leads in to the Severn valley and has spectacular panoramic views over 35 miles with far off mountains cradling the view. These spectacular views can be enjoyed from the terrace and windows of the cottage. Being set exactly in mid Wales, this is the perfect location to explore this beautiful, relatively undiscovered, part of the Wales and easily accessable to north and south Wales. There are also stunning sandy beaches only a 40 minute drive away (ask for details). This is the perfect retreat if you are also looking for peace and quiet to just kick back. It is set in what was a traditional welsh farm yard on a five and half acre organic smallholding, it is very private with its own garden and positioned on a large terrace looking down the valley with its spectacular views, which is ideal for entertaining, barbecuing or games. Very secluded with the nearest neighbour a quarter of a mile away! Downstairs is an open plan new kitchen, lounge and dining area with glass fronted wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for self catering. There is the master bedroom, a small double bed on the landing bedroom and bathroom upstairs A new bedroom has just been created downstairs for privacy and comfort with a double bed. The Granary sleeps 6 comfortably. We have also just installed a new bespoke shower in the bathroom to upgrade these facilities. Guests are welcome to bring their own pillows during Covid and we are no longer providing towels unless requested for safety reasons. Electricity & lpg gas included for hob and oven. The log basket is filled for short stays (2 nights) as part of the package, and there is a charge of £8 per 'barrow load' once these are used up. There is a TV & DVD player. No wifi in property but is available in yard outside main house. However, we do get very good 4g signal for all of the mobile networks. Also, High Chair, Charcoal BBQ, picnic table, outdoor seating. We have a selection of local maps, games, adult and children's books for rainy days. These will be removed from view at the moment due to Covid. We will be following a strict cleaning protocol using anti bacterial sprays and disinfectant between guests. This is the ideal place to come and stay if you just want to 'get away from it all'. Deep in the heart of beautiful countryside and nature, but only 4 miles from local shops and amenities. Children are welcome with a lovely large lawn area for play. There is no cot for infants, however there is a small 'pull out' single bed in the master bedroom. You are welcome to bring your own cot. The Granary is also only 4 miles from the charming market town of Llanidloes with local shops many of which sell local produce including butchers and organic veg shop and Wholefoods. There are two supermarkets too The Coop and Spar. We like to encourage guests ‘to shop local’ to support our local business in this rural community. Set within the 5 acres of grounds there is a hectare of native woodland planted in 2011 which is coming on nicely and you are welcome to explore, we are establishing a wildlife nature with large pond and have mowed walking tracks you are welcome to use. We practice organic permaculture principles and have a strict recycling policy. Very near Llyn Clywedog a large lake which has sailing, fishing, canoeing and paddle boarding (lessons can be arranged) and very near the River Severn and Wye for excellent canoeing. Also, close to excellent cycling tracks too. There is an excellent walk up Bryn y fan, directly from the house, which when at the top, you can see over the lake and on to the Plynlimon mountains west, Snowdon and Cadar Iris to the North, Brecon Beacons to the South and over into hills of Shropshire to the east, No WiFi in the cottage, only outside in the yard infront of the main house. However, there is very good 4g signal for all mobile suppliers. There is another holiday let available at these premises that sleeps 13 and is called Goetre if you wish to extend the number of people for larger family group holidays.
