Property is a modernized ground floor flat with excellent amenities in a peaceful village location, near the beach at the south end of the island. This is an ideal location for all types of holiday- walking, cycling, birdwatching, painting, golfing, bowling, sailing, water sports or just simply relaxing. Mount Stuart House is only 4 miles away and is a fine example of Victorian Gothic architecture. The island is easy to get to by ferry from Wemyss Bay. Trains run from Glasgow Central to Wemyss Bay and there is also a bus service if you don't want to travel by car. Rothesay has a castle, museum, cinema, gardens, and a great visitor centre. There is a bowling green (visitors welcome) and great pub grub available at the Kingarth Hotel, just ten minutes walk away. FERRY CROSSINGS The main ferry to Bute sails from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. The service, operated by Caledonian MacBrayne, runs every 45 minutes. The crossing takes 35 minutes and there is no need to book. Further information and timetables are available at calmac website. There is an alternative ferry crossing, operated by Calmac, between Rhubodach (at the north end of Bute) and Colintraive on the Cowal peninsula. If you prefer to take the scenic route through Argyll to Colintraive this would be a good choice.This is a very frequent service and takes less than 5 minutes to cross.. Bute is easily accessible by both Glasgow International (approx. 20 miles) and Glasgow Prestwick airports.(approx. 30 mliles). There is a direct rail service from Paisley Gilmour Street (which serves Glasgow International) to the ferry terminal at Wemyss Bay. Trains from Prestwick also run to Gilmour Street. Car hire is available at both airports. There is also a regular bus service along the West coast of Scotland that serves Wemyss Bay. There is a 36 in HDTV, DVD Player and a small selection of DVD;s, a cd player and selection of cd's, board games and cards, and useful guide books and other reading material. (for the wet days!!)
