*** This property is currently unavailable *** Nestling in a valley, at the foot of the Howgill Fells, Sedbergh is a small, quaint market town, within the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and a short drive away from the Lake District. The town is surrounded by a magnificent area of rolling hills and open common land, providing a paradise for walkers and cyclists. Our stone cottage on Main Street can be traced back to 1850 and is in the heart of the Conservation Area, virtually opposite the Tourist Information Office. Craft shops, book shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs are all just a short stroll away and there are many cobbled alleyways and courtyards to discover. When we bought the house in 2016, the property had been empty for a couple of years and was in a state of complete disrepair. With its scenic location on Main Street in the heart of the Conservation Area, the property was crying out for a sympathetic restoration and we were delighted to have the opportunity to take it on. Since then we have stripped the house all the way back to the stone shell, inside and out and started again. As part of the process we have built a new stone and slate porch / drying room, re-positioned the stairwell and installed a new oak staircase, moved the shower room upstairs and created a new dining room downstairs with patio doors onto the rear courtyard. Apart from the original walls, roof and some bedroom floorboards, literally everything else is brand new. We have replicated the original style and materials of the property wherever possible, using solid oak cottage doors throughout, natural slate and stone flooring and wooden windows. The property has been furnished to a high standard, fitting with the style of the property and we have installed all of the ‘creature comforts’ required to make holidays at our cottage as enjoyable as possible. The property was finally completed in December 2018 and has started a new life as a small, very comfortable and cosy holiday home for our family throughout the year. We are also delighted to be able to make it available for holiday rental. Strictly no smoking or vaping. Please also note that pets are not allowed.
