Yallambee @ Bundanoon
Sited amongst an acre of lovely gardens and lawns and adjoining the Morton National Park, this beautiful house sleeps up to 7 people in three all en suite rooms) in contemporary, luxurious comfort. Large lounge and dining areas, a sizeable, well appointed kitchen, spacious ensuite bedrooms, outdoor areas, games lawns, gardens and quiet location all combine to make Yallambee an ideal place for a getaway. The House Yallambee is an aboriginal word meaning somewhere to quietly rest. We inherited the property name and after living here a while, we realised there was absolutely no need to come up with another - it was perfect! It is a large rambling house which sleeps up to seven adults in three spacious bedrooms - all ensuited. Two of the bedrooms are on the upper floor above the formal guest lounge area. One room has a queen bed (with a possibility of accommodating an extra child on a single sofa bed) and bath and shower ensuite. The other upstairs bedroom has a king bed (which can be split on request to become twin king single beds) and a shower ensuite. The third bedroom is on the ground floor in another wing of the house. It has a queen bed and a double bed, shower ensuite. It is a quiet room and because it is separate to the main part of the house, it is the perfect room for all sorts of situations - a young family as there is no noise impact on the other rooms, a quiet retreat for a two or even for older guests who prefer a ground floor room with few stairs. Quality linen, towels and all bedding is provided and there is ironing facilities, hairdryers, heaters, fans, iPod docking, clock radio in all bedrooms. The formal lounge is well appointed with TV and DVD collection, a small bar fridge, holiday reading books, games and magazines and slow combustion wood fire and a backup gas heater for the cooler nights. There is a more informal lounge area at the other end of the house which has a TV, DVD, billiard table and bar area - the perfect retreat for the kids ( or the big kids!). There is a large kitchen with everything for the gourmand to whip up a dinner with ease. It is fully appointed with a range of appliances and all the cookware and utensils a chef could require. The cupboards are stocked with many dry goods, and the little deli, butcher, bakery, general store and bottle shop in Bundanoon can supply the pantry with anything else you will need to feed the hungry hoards. Adjoining the kitchen is a formal dining room that opens out to a patio and back garden. An outdoor setting and chairs can be taken into the garden to enjoy your breakfast in the morning sun. But beware! the king parrots will want to say hello! Wifi is available through most of the house, but mobile reception can be patchy as we are behind the hill away from the cell towers. Welcome to the country! Surrounding attractions It is an easy walk from the front door to explore the walking trails of the Morton National Park - the lookouts, waterfalls, pockets of remnant rainforest, Fairy Bower Falls, Erith Coal Mine and even the night walk of the Glow Worm Glen. If you are not feeling energetic, five minutes drive gets you to seven different lookouts (no walking required) and if you want to stretch your legs for a few minutes, a short walk will get you to another two! Many of the longer walking trails start in this part of the Park. Cycling is very big in the Bundanoon area, and we offer an amazing range of world class MTB trails in the neighbouring National Park and State Forests. If you want to explore the area and didn't bring the bike, bike hire is available in Bundanoon. Our quiet location also lends itself to chance meetings with all sorts of locals - families of eastern grey kangaroos, king parrots, rosellas, bower birds, lyrebirds and in the evenings, wombats, barn owls and ring tail possums all visit Yallambee from time to time. You can discover all sorts of treasures in town - cafes, dining, gift shops, a wonderful deli, butcher, bottleshop and bakery, most stocking local and regional produce. Bundanoon markets are held on the first and third Sundays of the month and there is often movies or performances in the Bundanoon hall on weekends- you could stumble into a wonderful piano concert or dramatic offering from one of the touring Sydney troupes! You never know your luck.. Happenings are usually posted in the shop windows in town. The surrounding Villages of Exeter and Sutton Forest have great farm gates like Montrose Berry Farm, boutique vineyards, open gardens, equestrian centres and antique shops - well worth a visit. Within half an hour drive (or less) of Bundanoon are the the larger towns of Berrima, Bowral and Mittagong offering a huge range of retail and culinary adventures!
