Borth-y-Gest, quirky cottage close to coastal path
Quirky cottage for two near coastal footpath at Borth y Gest
A beautifully renovated cottage close to the coastal path and villages of Borth y Gest and Morfa Bychan. The cottage dates from the 1700's and used to be the out kitchen to the farmhouse where the owners live. The cottage has been lovingly restored and updated to provide a high level of comfort and style. Steps lead down to the cottage which has a stable door. The ground floor of the cottage is open plan and comprises the kitchen and sitting area. It is small and cosy and perfect for a couple. The cottage has a fully fitted kitchen with microwave and electric cooker. The kitchen area has a small breakfast bar and stools. The room opens out into the sitting area which has a comfy sofa, TV and small table. The original inglenook fireplace with bread oven has been preserved and now has a wood burning stove with a supply of logs for colder evenings. The separate bathroom has an electric shower, basin and WC. Rising from the sitting area is an oak and glass staircase which leads up to the mezzanine bedroom which is simply furnished with a king size low bed with cotton bedlinen and feather duvet and pillows. As the bedroom is in the eaves of the cottage there is limited headroom as the ceiling is sloping. Outside the cottage is a small garden with seating area and a parking space for your vehicle. Sorry no pets allowed. There is another 2 person cottage at the property which adjoins the Farmhouse. Please contact us for availability if you wish to come with friends. 5 minutes walk from the cottage is the Welsh coastal path so you can walk to the pretty village of Borth y Gest (15 mins) which has a bistro and cafe and further along to the harbourside town of Porthmadog (30 mins). Walking in the other direction you can walk along the mile long sandy beach (Black Rock Sands) 15 mins and even onto the town of Cricieth with its fascinating castle (1hr). A fantastic base for exploring the mountains of Snowdonia and the beaches of the Llyn Peninsula, other nearby attractions include Porthmadog (1.5miles) with its famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, Portmeirion (4 miles) and the towns and the castles of Criccieth, Caernarfon and Harlech just a short drive away. In June, July and August we only accept 7 day bookings with changeover on a Friday. Corona virus update: Current Welsh government advice is that self catering cottages can accept bookings from Easter 2021 ( subject to change) To ensure safety for our guests we are taking recommended extra cleaning precautions between guests. As well as our usual high standard of cleaning we will be disinfecting all switches, remote controls, handles, keys, hangers etc with antibacterial products and will be wearing gloves and masks when we undertake cleaning tasks. We will be airing the cottage so you might find windows open on arrival. We will provide anti bacterial products and gloves for guests to use. If you have any questions please get in touch.
