Holiday home Cogulet is a charming 19th Century, traditional Charente farmhouse cottage with original features and beams set in a small, quiet hamlet just outside Exideuil in the fabulous Charente region of south west France. A comfortable and cosy holiday home with access to a shared pool, pretty covered BBQ area, sun lounging, extensive 2 acre garden with views of the beautiful surrounding countryside. 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4. (First Bedroom has a double bed, second bedroom has bunk beds). The Holiday Home includes a cosy wood burner fireplace in the lounge along withTV and DVD player. There is a well equipped kitchen with a microwave and an electric oven and a gas hob. The private bathroom comes with a modern shower and guests have access to free WiFi in the property and an on-site, covered parking space. Activities available in the local area are swimming, fishing, canoeing, golf, tennis, cycling, horse riding and hiking. Guests are welcome to enjoy full access to all of our grounds. Stuart and Kerstin live in the same small hamlet and are happy to offer any help or advice needed. Situated just 9km from the property are the two lakes of the Haute Charente which are perfect for a day out in the sun. These lakes offer beach safe swimming and picnic areas, canoeing, sailing, horse riding, hiking, fishing and even a tree climbing/zip wire adventure park and equestrian centre. The lakes retain their unspoilt natural beauty while still offering facilities like boat hire, changing areas and somewhere to enjoy food and drink at the lake side restaurant and café. The region is packed full of history and beauty. From traditional, sleepy villages with wonderful countryside filled with amazing wildlife and slow moving, magical rivers to fascinating meteorite discoveries and amazing culinary delights. The region offers the visitor all sorts of wonders, local music and theatre festivals abound and markets and boot sales are regular. Another site where fishing is available is only 3 km away on the Vienne River. Golf courses are a plenty too with 10 courses within a 48 km (30 mile) radius. Cassinomagus Parc Archéologique is another nearby (10km) and unique place to visit and boasts some of the best preserved Roman thermal baths in Europe and offers guided tours (French & English). Charente is one of the most attractive areas in SW France with its gentle rolling scenery. It is reputed to be the second sunniest area of France (only surpassed by the Cote d’Azur) It is full of wonderful old towns, which are great places to visit on a day out . Such as Confolens with its old bridge straddling on the banks of the River Vienne, Montbron, historic La Rochefoucauld and Ruffec. The capital Angoulême dates back to the 6th century AD and is a place full of history with its old town walls, magnificent cathedral and winding cobbled streets. Dotted with châteaux large and small, public and private, well maintained and crumbling. The best known is the large château at La Rochefoucauld, ancestral home of one of Frances best known aristocratic families. Limoges International Airport is 45 km from the holiday home, while Angoulême is 54 km away. We are situated just off the national route N141 virtually half way between these two cities. Chabanais train station is only 5.2km away. Pets are welcome at an additional charge of €15 per stay. Please note that pets must not be left alone in the property and are not allowed on the beds. Included in the price are bed linens, one bath towel and one hand towel per person, hair dryer, toilet rolls, tea towel and hand towel for the kitchen, hand soap pumps for the kitchen and bathroom, washing up liquid, cleaning liquids, bin liners, cooking oil, salt and pepper, all gas and electric. We have a travel cot, a stair gate and a high chair, just let us know in advance if you would like to make use of them.
