No35 - Spacious house, large garden, close to town

We look forward to welcoming you in person to No35 and we have an apartment on-site so we will be available throughout your stay should you need anything. We have 3 double and two twins bedrooms. Open plan lounge dining and kitchen leading onto a terrace. Set in an acre of gardens, the house and its pool have beautiful views of the gardens and the mountains beyond. Located on the edge of town, No 35 is just a 10 minute stroll into the heart of Quillan with its many bars, restaurants and shops. With Quillan just 10 minutes walk down the road, you have access to many bars, restaurants and shops without the need to drive. The doors from the kitchen lead out onto a terrace with table and chairs for 10, where you can admire the beautiful view of the mountains beyond. Stairs from this terrace lead down into the large rear garden. The pool is enclosed to provide safety for small children. Access to the pool is via the garden kitchen with sink and fridge along with cutlery and crockery to use outside, so no need to carry these from the main house. There is also a toilet within the garden kitchen and the door leads to a covered terrace with table and chairs where you can relax and watch the children in the pool. Alternatively relax on a sunbed beneath an umbrella and catch up on the latest best seller. Outside the pool area are pretty gardens and a large lawn where you can play games such as badminton, croquet, kids pitch'n'put or just kick a ball around. Back towards the house is a large terrace with another table and chairs for 10, close to the guest gas BBQ and dart board, for pleasant evening gatherings. To the front of the house is a more formal garden with many trees offering dappled shade and a swing set to amuse the children. Within the house there is a large and bright lounge, dining and kitchen area running the whole length of the house making it an inclusive space. Beyond the hall are 2 bedrooms, one double with en-suite and one twin with private bathroom. The latter can be converted into a double with prior notice. A further 3 bedrooms can be found on the upper floor. A Twin with private bathroom, a Double with en-suite and a final double with en-suite and large terrace. Whilst we have an apartment onsit and are happy to answer questions during your stay we will keep a low profile to enable you to enjoy the space uninterupted. The Gite is set in approximately 1 acre of gardens, including lawns and pool enclosure, the majority of which is for the sole use of our guests. The pool, which is open every day between May and September, 9.30am to 7pm is set back beyond the garden kitchen which offers privacy for bathers. As we have an apartment onsite, we retain a small seating area beneath the gite kitchen terrace and some of the outside space by the driveway which is out of the way of the main garden. We pride ourselves on working hard to make your vacation special. We are happy to suggest places to visit or make reservations for you at one of the many restaurants in town. Quillan is a vibrant town set in a natural bowl formed by the foothills of the Pyrenees with its micro-climate providing beautiful warm days and clear starry nights. We have a market twice a week, a local lake complex which during the summer has an inflatable park on one of the lakes for the kids, sandy beach, football pitch, picnic and play areas. There are lots of scenic walks and cycle routes and many beautiful villages and historical landmarks within the local area. We are ideally situated to visit many of the historic cathar castles including the unesco protected city of Carcassonne, Château de Quéribus, Château de Peyrepertuse and Château de Puivert. We also have the oldest Criterion (town cycle race) in France which coincides with our annual fete. A 5 days extravaganza with live bands every evening and a fun fayre. This is the largest event of the year, however throughout the summer most weekends the town host free live music events. With the coast about an hour away and the closet ski resort 35 minutes there really is something for everyone in Quillan. For €1 euro you can get a bus/train from Quillan to the medieval city of Carcassonne or in the other direction the bus will take you to Perpignan, again for just €1. Travelling under your own steam opens up a vast array of beautiful places to visit such as the medieval town of Mirepoix, with its stunning market square surrounded by beautiful half-timbered houses whose first floors jut out over the square creating an arcaded walkway below. Foix with its 10th century castle looking out over the narrow streets filled with quaint shops, to name just a couple. We are also situated on the Cathar trail linking historic castles associated with the ill-fated 13th-century Cathar heresy. i could go on, but why not come visit and see it all for yourself. Pool towels are available in the garden kitchen for use outside so no need to bring your own. We request you use the plastic glasses provided around the pool.
