Advancetown location: There is lots to explore in this forgotten little corner of the world, dating back to as early as when the new-Australian settlers were advancing north by horse back into Queensland, the township of ‘Old’ Advancetown was built on the banks of the Nerang River as the logging industry boomed. The township is today submerged under Advancetown Lake, which was created by Hinze Dam, the primary water source of the Gold Coast. Hence the 'town' in its namesake is no longer relative. To this day, Sunday drivers often stop and ask where they can find the town centre of Advancetown. Less than 5 mins away the Hinze Dam / Advancetown Lake itself is a must visit when staying with us, you can walk or cycle across the dam wall, stop for lunch at the View Café, wander the gardens and take in the scenery. Make use of the public BBQ and Picnic facilities or borrow our Kayak and go for a paddle or spot of fishing*.
