The Herrenhaus was built in about 1870 to accommodate the Kellermeister's family for the Weingut. It was sympathetically renovated in 2015 and the the loft converted to accommodation. The house is stone built and the loft has exposed timber beams. The Herrenhaus (manor house) is at 1 Plattertstrasse, just off Moselweinstrasse. There are views of the Calmont (the steepest vineyards in Europe) and the vineyards on steep hills behind Eller from some of the rooms. The rooms are airy and light. The roof with its wide and open space provides the possibility to lay down additional mattresses for children if needed. The living room is large and has a wood-burning stove, two sofas, a large screen TV and a table with 4 chairs. There are parking places on Moselweinstrasse and if required and pre-booked there is undercover parking in our dry tractor shed. The house is self-contained and you will have access to all rooms except the cleaner's cupboard. For bookings of only 5 people the loft apartment will be locked so that there is no access to 2 of the bedrooms and 1 shower/WC. For bookings of 8 people (or more) the whole house is available. The key is available on arrival (check-in) from Moselweinstrasse (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Ediger-Eller. Generally there is someone available at all times to help. The von Landenberg Vinothek (wine shop) is open most days for contact. You are welcome to use the wine shop and sit in the adjacent rose garden. You will also be given a contact cell-phone number. Ediger-Eller has a long history and is two attractive and historic villages brought together for administrative reasons. The village was awarded 'gold' as the most 'future-compliant' village in Germany in 2010. As part of the Calmont Region it was the areas representative at the European Village Renewal Awards in 2014. One of the houses on the von Landenberg estate was built in the 1500s and has an historic chapel. There is plenty to do including walking along the Mosel and in the hills, canoeing on the Mosel, bicycling (leisure and mountain), golfing, ship tours on the Mosel and hiking on the Calmont. The local hourly bus service between Cochem and Bullay stops within 50 meters. There is also an hourly train service between Koblenz and Trier from the station which is about 1000 meters away. There is a daily ferry service from Ediger to Beilstein and Cochem and to Zell and this links with other river ferries up and down the Mosel. The Herrenhaus is part of the Freiherr von Landenberg wine estate and next to house is the wine production area. This is normally quiet but in early October when grapes are being pressed there can be some noise in the evenings. Visits to the wine production area and the wine cellars can be arranged. Also wine tasting can be arranged by appointment.
