No 10 Dulas is a cosy, warm, Victorian stone cottage sleeping up to 3 people, with a pretty stream-side private garden and allocated free parking, tucked away in a quiet corner of Hay-on-Wye. Backing on to the Dulas Brook, and only a 5 minute walk to all the shops, restaurants, pubs, galleries, venues and all the other amenities that Hay-on-Wye has to offer. Any bookings cancelled due to a change in guidelines, resulting in a National or Local Lockdown, will be refunded, or transferred. Please note that No 10 Dulas is right on the border of Wales and England and is in Herefordshire, England, and as such is subject to English Covid-19 restrictions. Hay-on-Wye is in Wales and subject to Welsh Covid-19 restrictions. Any booking cancelled due to a change in Government Covid-19 guidelines, resulting in a National or Local Lockdown, will be refunded in full, or transferred to an alternative date, subject to availability. Flat screen TV, dining area and fast WiFi access point. With the added benefit of a feature stone fireplace and wonderfully warming gas flame effect log burner for those chilly winter evenings, as well as a selection games and books to keep you amused. The stylish fitted kitchen is fully equipped with integrated electric hob, oven & grill, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and plenty of utensils. The bright modern bathroom has a large walk-in shower, hand basin, toilet, heated towel-rail and warming underfloor heating. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, the master bedroom with a wonderful stripped pine wooden floor and super comfy king-size double bed overlooking the garden. The second bedroom has a full-size single bed, both bedrooms have plenty of storage space. The cottage has adjustable central heating throughout as well as constant hot water. The sunny, secluded and private garden backs onto the Dulas Brook and has two patio areas, one adjacent to the cottage with a large picnic table, ideal for alfresco dining. The second looks over the Dulas Brook where you can sit, relax and listen to the stream and watch the wildlife. if you are lucky you can watch Otters play, Kingfishers and Dippers catching their lunch and Dunnocks nesting close by. If you are really lucky you may even see a hedgehog or two wandering along the river bank in the evenings. The garden also has a lockable outbuilding where bikes and your outdoor gear can be stored safely. Guests have exclusive use of the cottage and garden during their stay. There is dedicated off street parking space for up to two cars at the side of the cottage. Access is via a key-safe, directions and details will be provided before your visit. We live close by, guests are able to contact us directly, via mobile and email regarding their stay, to answer any questions, or help with additional information if needed. Our welcome pack includes milk and a treat, as well as plenty of information both about the cottage, Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding area. The "Independent Kingdom of Hay-on-Way" is world famous for its second hand bookshops, and is fast gaining a reputation for its antiques and collectibles shops and has many other independent shops and galleries. There are plenty of delicious pubs, cafés and restaurants in the centre of Hay to choose from - all just a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Work is underway on the renovation of Hay Castle which is due to be completed late 2021 to create a unique new center for culture and education. Hay-on-Wye is also famous for the annual Hay Festival of Literature & Arts, held for ten days at the end of May, as well as the 'How The Light Gets In' festival of philosophy and music. Hay-on-Wye lies within the borders of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with fresh air, wide open spaces and some of the finest walking country, and lots more to keep you entertained. There are regular buses from Hereford and Brecon (Service 39) which drop off at the main car park in Hay-on-Wye, which is a 10 minute walk to No 10 Dulas. The service operates six days a week, Mondays to Saturdays. The Hay Ho! bus (Service 39A) runs between Hereford Rail Station and Hay-on-Wye on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays. First Bus and Rail-bus tickets are valid on the Hay Ho! bus. The Hay Ho! bus also stops at convenient spots between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford for walkers to walk back to Hay-on-Wye along the Wye Valley. Local Taxis are also available. We provide all bed linen, towels and bathroom essentials including shampoo and hand soap. The kitchen is well equipped with all the basics including tea, coffee and sugar, tea towels, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and condiments. The local supermarket or our independent deli, butchers, greengrocer and grocery stores are all only a 5 minute walk away.
