Ty Capel Studio is a delightful, open plan holiday apartment occupying the first floor of what was originally the caretakers cottage for the adjoining chapel. It now provides our guests with all they need for a relaxing holiday, with its own private entrance, it features a double bed, separate shower and wash rooms, and a small kitchenette. The south facing garden overlooks the northern hills of the Pumlumon Massif in the Cambrian Mountains. More info at tycapel.wales In the heart of the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, on the doorstep of southern Snowdonia, it's perfectly placed for walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, and anyone else who loves the great outdoors. More info at tycapel.wales The flat is part of our home, but now separated with its own entrance and stairs. You'll be allowed to use our main chapel garden as well as the small garden around the Studio entrance. We both work from home, so generally someone around to help if required. Darowen is a tiny village of some 20 homes and outlying farms, sitting on a short ridge between two hills. It is within a UNESCO recognised area called the Dyfi Biosphere. All roads leading to the village are up hill! The local community is chiefly made up of local farming families, and English incomers like us who love the gorgeous views. Everyone is friendly, with several homes welcoming holiday guests. While we don't have a pub or shop here anymore, we do like to meet up in each others homes for a good natter! Unless you are a keen long distance walker, to make the most of the Dyfi Valley you'll need your own transport; car, pedal cycle, or motorcycle, all are welcome here. We are about 10km from the nearest train station in Machynlleth, which has a surprisingly good (though quite slow) service which connects well to Birmingham airport (BHX). The railway also connects to much of the Welsh Cambrian coast along one of the most picturesque railway lines in the country. Busses do not come to Darowen, the nearest stops are 4km away in Commins Coch. Several Taxi companies are based in the area. The property is about 200 years old, the gravel and stone pathways to the main entrance are not perfect, and feature several steps both up and down. As the accommodation is up stairs it's really not suitable for people with restricted mobility or sight. More details about the property can be found at tycapel.wales
