The Store at Mewslade Cottage is a self contained unit with separate entrance and beautiful courtyard area within the garden. It is located at the end of the Gower peninsular has off-road parking and is 5 minutes walk down a lane to beautiful Mewslade beach, 10 minutes walk to wonderful Rhossili. It has a low double bed up narrow stairs in a lovely roof space (not standing height), a kitchen and dining area that opens out onto the courtyard, separate room with sofa bed & TV and a shower room. Once the Village VG Store and then a garage and surfboard store this has now been given a high grade conversion by the owners. It features a full height living space lit by the gable end bifold doors and triangular window. Recycled wood is used a lot to create an inviting but clean and crisp living space. The kitchen is one single run along wall of the property with Marble top and integral fridge, oven, induction hob and waste management. The living room is warm and cozy with a large sofa bed that it easy to pull into the bed, internet TV connected to Netflix and other chairs for guests. Walk in large shower with WC and basin. Property has its own efficient heating and hot water. Outside areas are private with a well established and cared for garden As well as the living area, sitting room/sofa bedroom, upstairs sleeping 'pod' and shower, you also have a brick paved area in front of the bifold door with slate table and chairs. There is also another more secluded patio area linked by a path through the garden that gets the evening sun and has a chiminea for your own use. There is your own parking space right by the gate into The Store garden which is off the road. We are more than willing to give advice, tips and pass on our love of where we live. However, we feel that we can gauge when people want privacy and can equally let you just get on with it yourself. Between us we have a wealth of knowledge of the area, its hidden gems and quieter walks. We surf, kayak, fish, crab, spearfish, cycle, run, walk, paint and garden so can give advice on many subjects if you need it. We have 2 soft top surf boards for hire, these are perfect for learning on (used in surf schools) also wetsuits. Anything else then just ask and we will be pleased to help. At the tip of the UK's first Area of Outstanding Beauty and Site of Special Scientific Interest Middleton and Rhossili are joined linearly and under a mile from end to end. The Store is in Middleton, close to small beaches of Fall and Mewslade. Rhossili is where the famous 3 mile long beach is and so also has a National Trust car park and shop, a couple of cafes , a pub with a great view and mostly residential homes. The Store is about 200m from the cliff path and the cliffs are owned and maintained by the National trust but still farmed. As well as the beach Rhossili Hill is of interest and is Gower's highest point with spectacular 360 degree views over towards Pembroke , the Black Mountains, Swansea and down to Lundy and Hartland point. It joins Rhossili at the southern end of the beach with Llangennith at the northern end and boasts neolithic burial stones and the remnants of a WW2 listening station. It is quiet and sleepy out of season but busy on sunny days in summer. The area’s main economy is farming and tourism but Rhossili has been luckier than many of Gower’s beachside villages and hasn’t got any holiday chalets or static caravan sites such as at Oxwich, Port Eynon, Horton and Llangennith. Rhossili is on a regular bus route from Swansea that varies through the year but there are seven buses a day in summer linking us with Swansea and going via the southern beaches. Swansea is on the rail line with a high speed train to Paddington via Cardiff and Bristol and also links to the mid and west wales lines. The bed upstairs in the roof lovely space is very comfortable and a great place to sleep, light and airy with views out over fields. It is however worth noting that there is not full height for standing and the bed is the standard 2 metres long, but not good if you are very tall (see photos). The Store is ideal for two, but can accommodate three or four (using sofa bed, which is big and comfortable).
